to have sent a snotty email to this holiday park?

TheSpokenNerd · 02/07/2012 15:16

I rang a holiday park to enquire about accomodation today. It's a place where you camp or hire a "Luxury holiday home"...it had very good reviews from my sister...indoor pool, ovely countryside etc. I looked on the site to see the tarriffs and there were none....odd I thought...maybe they'rea bit old fahioned or are doing up the site...so I phoned them up.

The woman who answered my call ran through the types of accomodation at lightening speed and I said "Sorry...could you repeat that please as I didn't quite catch it.."

She sighed and said "we no longer hire the holiday homes, it's just camping now unless you have bought one of our statics"

Oh I said...what are the prices for camping please?

She sihed again and sad "It VARIES according to the amount of people and the ages of children"

So I said "Is there a list on the site anywhere."

"Yes."

"Oh I can't see it anywhere." (very conversational and normal tone)
.
Well it IS THERE!

So I lost my patience then and said "Well I tell you what, I'll just book somewhere else because your phone manner is shocking..goodbye."

ALL said in a polite tone.

I put the phone down and SHE RANG ME BACK rght away and said " just wanted to tel you that it is very rude to put the phone down...

And I said "How dare you call me back to harrass me! Don't call me again I am going to email and complain.

WIBU then? Honestly? my tone all the way through wasconversational and normal...I was polite but could not see the prices anywhere! I have wrtten an email suggesting they retrain their staff.

OMG that is terrible.

Can you ring again much later when she is likely to have gone off shift and then ask to speak to the manager/owner, or get them to call back tomorrow?

TheSpokenNerd · 02/07/2012 16:02

I keep wondering if she IS the manager or owner tbh...she was in her 50s at least by the sound of her...

LoopyFuckbadger · 02/07/2012 16:03

Appalling - if I were her manager, I'd want to know. Who knows how many people have been put off by her rudery?

ItsjustSue · 02/07/2012 16:04

You need to make a formal complaint at the very very top.

You need to find out the CEO/Manager/Directors name and address.

Is it a small/large goliday company?

Then write a formal written complaint.

There is no need for her to be so rude. We all have bad days at work but there are loads of people desperate for a job at the mo and most could probably do hers better. She needs dealing with. I would be complaining. I cannot believe as a person in a customer orientated role she was so rude initially but to then call you nack twice and mess with you like that.

Jeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzz!!! I am livid for you. If it was me - I would do everything to ensure it was one of her biggest mistakes!! Silly bitch.

Callisto · 02/07/2012 16:04

Name them anyway - if she sees this thread it may shame her sufficiently to alter her behaviour next time. I would definitely be contacting the manager, what she did is harrassment, even if it is very low key. And what if there had been an emergency and you couldn't call the police/fire brigade?

fluffyraggies · 02/07/2012 16:04

OP you're like me. I assume everyone in the world is on MN AIBU too! :)

You could leave it till much later and try ringing again.

fluffyraggies · 02/07/2012 16:06

But yeah - name and shame! What's the worst that can happen? Like Callisto said she's the one who'll be cringing if she reads this.

TheSpokenNerd · 02/07/2012 16:06

Sue I think you are right...I am sure it is family run though. They will just side with her...fluffy...the thing is, some companies find the name of their business online and then come on to have a slanging match...I've seen it happen on MN.

ItsjustSue · 02/07/2012 16:06

Make a note of the times you called today and she called you back so the company can trace who was on duty.

Then late or tomorrow phone (with-holding your number) or get a friend to call if you are worried she will recognise your voice and ask for the name of manager.

bigTillyMint · 02/07/2012 16:06

I think I would try again, later, and do 141 before the number until you are sure you are not speaking to her.

I would also name and shame - why not?

Birdsgottafly · 02/07/2012 16:08

She may be the owner. If they make enough money and are regulary full up, they can be quite snotty (long term camper).

ItsjustSue · 02/07/2012 16:09

How frustrating.

If hers/family business I would call making out I was making am enquiry for a huge bookingthat would be a massive money spinner to them - then tell them their staff attitudes have made you change your mind and tell them to ram it - pretend you are taking it to one of their local competitors instead.

fluffyraggies · 02/07/2012 16:10

Spoken - we'll slang with you! They'll be well outnumbered. Plus that would really drag the name of their holiday co. through the mud. ( where's that 'going into the loft' spirit gone :) )

TheSpokenNerd · 02/07/2012 16:10

I just googled and the couple who own it have not got her name...She gave her name as she answered my initial call so i do have that. it was Janice.

Shes not the owner it would appear...they are a pair of wel to do farmer types.

OP posts:
TheSpokenNerd · 02/07/2012 16:12

I will write directly to them at the adress...on paper. Bugger this email malarkey. They can at least see then that I'm polite and know how to communicate!

OP posts:
insancerre · 02/07/2012 16:12

write a letter to the owners complaining about janice

TheSpokenNerd · 02/07/2012 16:13

Address. Bugger.

You can help me word it maybe? Grin

OP posts:
VivaLeBeaver · 02/07/2012 16:14

She probably owns the place.

VivaLeBeaver · 02/07/2012 16:15

Ah, see she isn't.

I think I would complain. Not really to be vindictive but if it was my business I'd want to know what my employee was doing.

TheSpokenNerd · 02/07/2012 16:18

Well that's it Viva...and I am really dissapointed actually. I wanted a nice place to go to for DDs birthday and this seemed bloody perfect! Now I can't go and I am shitty about that tbh.

I wouldnt' go there now if they paid me.

OP posts:
PomBearWithAnOFRS · 02/07/2012 16:19

Come on, give us a clue - where abouts is the place?

Pixieonthemoor · 02/07/2012 16:20

Write a letter as an email will be deleted. Give her name and the times that she called you back. She sounds utterly loopy tbh. What would have happened if you had an emergency and needed the phone or some one needed to get hold of you when she was up to her tricks? Not everyone lives in an area with mobile reception. Your house could have been on fire ffs!!

CatholicDad · 02/07/2012 16:20

My absolute top hate: people mistakenly phoning your house phone and then, when they find out it's a wrong number, JUST HANGING UP! It enrages me. I always do 1471 so I can give them a piece of my mind... Angry

shineypenny · 02/07/2012 16:21

Maybe she's a Mumsnetter?!?!?!!
