These are not actual threads but the answers are pretty similar to what i have read on different boards:-

OP: Its rainin outside, I have to be somewhere as a matter of life + death, should I run 4 the train or take teh bus?
Poster: Learn to spell first and sort out your grammer.

OP: [Describes something that has happened that is going to divide opinions], can i have an opinion please?
Poster 1: I think this (enter opinion)
Poster 2: I think this (enter differing opinion)
Poster 4: How dare you disagree with poster 1, she has been here ages.
Poster 5: I love Poster 1, she says the bestest things.
Poster 5: Everything Poster 1 says is right cos i just love her.

(Actually this isn't that annoying, just a bit arselicky which I find Hmm

OP: I let my dc use fb, I have given them permission, please give me advice about a problem that has cropped up and how to deal with it.
Poster: Your dc should not be on fb (whilst offering no help whatsover towards the op's actual problem)

and my favourite -

OP: This [insert an event of some sort] happened to me, I am trying to make heads and tails of it.
Poster: Thats never happened to me so therefore you must be lying.

Is it just me who thinks if you cant offer any practical advice, fuck off why bother even posting?

OP posts:

The ones that irritate me are the last sort - 'I've been a bus passenger and no-one has ever been rude to me, therefore you are making it up.' As if the world is confined to their own personal experience. Very blinkered and arrogant.

Or the ones where people call 'troll' or 'journalist' just because the OP's situation is beyond their personal experience. In 99.9% of cases there is NOTHING there that would interest a journalist for work - most stuff that happens to people is not national news, oddly enough.

I've thought of loads of rambling ranty interesting replies to this. But I'm just going to stick with YANBU!

Because I probably commit all these sins, and more Blush [shrug]

PandaWatch · 27/06/2012 11:16
Biscuit Hmm

etc

Grin

I partly agree but I've noticed it tends to be newer/less frequent posters who are guilty of the aforementioned Crimes Against MN Posters

TuftyFinch · 27/06/2012 11:20

It's now a business park with a cafe. I've worked 100 yards away all these years and I never knew.

Mo idea what's going on with this thread.

Can you still get Lemon Puff biscuits? That's an important question.

PandaWatch · 27/06/2012 11:23

"It's now a business park with a cafe. I've worked 100 yards away all these years and I never knew."

What - MN is? Confused

Hullygully · 27/06/2012 11:23

manicbmc · 27/06/2012 11:28

Hullygully · 27/06/2012 11:30

Brown derbies, you say? Hmm

I miss Wimpy. Sad

TheEnglishWomanInTheAttic · 27/06/2012 11:35

Agree with hurricanewyn - when people need to vent about very interfering / demanding grandparents (venting probably allows them to deal with said relatives more diplomatically/ with a smile rather than simmering internally) and somebody else almost always immediately pops up and says "I wish my child's grandparents wanted to be involved/ my mum is dead... you should think yourselves lucky that you have grandparents who want to micromanage and criticise how you bring up your child/ give your 1 year old family size bags of crisps/ tells your 5 year old you are mean for not buying her everything she asks for and not letting her stay up til midnight" etc.

Laquitar · 27/06/2012 11:35

OP i totally agree with the last part of your post.
i.e. 'there was too much traffic this morning and i was 20 min late'
'You are lying, there is no traffic in the village i live'.

I remember a -well known- poster saying that she still enjoys sex with her dh and few posters called her 'liar' because aparently 'there is no sex after dcs'.

mn is a huge community, many members with different lives from all over the world so we all have different experiences.

TuftyFinch · 27/06/2012 11:39

I'm going there for lunch. I'm going to have double egg and chips. There's pictures of famous people on the wall. And Jedward.

TuftyFinch · 27/06/2012 11:39

There are if anyone cares.

TheEnglishWomanInTheAttic · 27/06/2012 11:40

Although I also agree with MissRepresentation "This isn't an advice only site either, we don't have to make sure everything we say is practical and useful." BUt the "my problem is bigger than your problem" people are very annoying - even though it may be true they have a much bigger problem, this doesn't mean all smaller problems anyone else has, ever, are therefore moot.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 27/06/2012 11:43

Flowery, I think that is more because people know you know your stuff though?

Rather than people telling others not to disagree with someone merely because they have been here a long time, which is what OP is talking about.

Which I haven't witnessed, more like people giving others a kicking because they have been here a while

Hullygully · 27/06/2012 11:44

But my problem is a lot bigger. I have no wimpy close by Sad

TantrumsAndBalloons · 27/06/2012 11:45

You can still buy lemon puffs.

There are a packet in the kitchen at work, I don't know who they belong to but if not claimed shortly they are going home with me.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 27/06/2012 11:45

Wimpys have all but disappeared now, haven't they?

Why is that?

Hullygully · 27/06/2012 11:46

They're mine

AmazingBouncingFerret · 27/06/2012 11:48

I drove past a wimpy on the way into Stafford when driving my niece to college interview. I was half tempted to stop by on the way back just to see what it was like but I ended up getting lost anyway

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 27/06/2012 11:49

How could you mention Wimpy?

I ate too much in Wimpy once and felt sick!
