These are not actual threads but the answers are pretty similar to what i have read on different boards:-

OP: Its rainin outside, I have to be somewhere as a matter of life + death, should I run 4 the train or take teh bus?
Poster: Learn to spell first and sort out your grammer.

OP: [Describes something that has happened that is going to divide opinions], can i have an opinion please?
Poster 1: I think this (enter opinion)
Poster 2: I think this (enter differing opinion)
Poster 4: How dare you disagree with poster 1, she has been here ages.
Poster 5: I love Poster 1, she says the bestest things.
Poster 5: Everything Poster 1 says is right cos i just love her.

(Actually this isn't that annoying, just a bit arselicky which I find Hmm

OP: I let my dc use fb, I have given them permission, please give me advice about a problem that has cropped up and how to deal with it.
Poster: Your dc should not be on fb (whilst offering no help whatsover towards the op's actual problem)

and my favourite -

OP: This [insert an event of some sort] happened to me, I am trying to make heads and tails of it.
Poster: Thats never happened to me so therefore you must be lying.

Is it just me who thinks if you cant offer any practical advice, fuck off why bother even posting?

OP posts:

Just totally ignore twats. They're used to that treatment in reality, anyway.

TuftyFinch · 27/06/2012 08:55

Hully, it's apple. Actually.

I actually went in the Peak Freen factory. I was so Grin

Queenofcake · 27/06/2012 08:56

Love it! Point 3 is well made and bugs the shit out of me on here!!

silverten · 27/06/2012 08:57

You missed the:

OP: explanation of problem with a few details in it, possible something that is likely to elicit a couple of differing points of view

Post 1-n: fairly sensible discussion of said problem

Post n+1: total confusion of original problem with random permutation of all relevant detail, which indicates that NONE of the thread has been read properly before they started mashing the keyboard

Post n+2 onwards: increasingly confused discussion of the misunderstood problem, interspersed with posters explaining in ever-more-irate terms that someone got totally the wrong end of the stick, until people start getting really upset at all the abuse being flung around.

Hullygully · 27/06/2012 09:35

In the Peak Frean!

The giddy heights...

How'd you manage that?

Whoneedssleepanyway · 27/06/2012 09:45

The ones that get me are massive assumptions posters make about a poster from their OP:

You sound very [insert adjective]

or

You clearly have issues with x, y or z

Paiviaso · 27/06/2012 10:22

Well, people can respond however unhelpfully they like! Ignore the ones that you think are unhelpful.

I think YABU about the grammar. It is embarrassing how badly some adults on here write. Sometimes it is bad enough that the post is almost unreadable.

manicbmc · 27/06/2012 10:27

What silverten said.

I see a lot of threads where people haven't even read the OP properly.

Haven't seen any of those posts where people say 'how dare you disagree with a poster' Hmm

maytheoddsbeeverinyourfavour · 27/06/2012 10:41

I hate the whole 'Ohh that's such a first world problem' well yes, because we live in a first world country Grin if you've got time to go on the Internet via your laptop/smartphone then I'm pretty sure your problems are of the first world variety too Grin

I also hate the 'I've got it worse' posts. Not always because sometimes people are trying to help, but the ones that go like this...

Op-am I bu to be upset that my dad shagged my husband then set me on fire then barbecued my dog
Poster 1- YANBU
Poster 2- YABU my dad is dead i'd

give anything for him to be able to set me on fire and barbeque my dog
(disclaimer, my dad really is dead but I still think its unreasonable to try to guilt trip people into never complaining because they're 'lucky')

Why are people attempting to disrail this thread? It's not like the OP is being nasty or trolling.

Cockwomble · 27/06/2012 10:43

*The ones that get me are massive assumptions posters make about a poster from their OP:

or

You clearly have issues with x, y or z*

This, and when people don't read the thread is quite annoying, and go off a comment like the above from another poster.

e.g. Poster one says: you clearly have issues and hate men.

Poster two wades in: What the fuck? You hate men? What a bitch!

And the thread was about cheese.

manicbmc · 27/06/2012 10:45

I don't think this thread is goading. There's no mention of specific posters for a start.

And the OP has a valid point.

We need more threads about cheese though.

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 27/06/2012 10:46

And this is seriously all you have to worry about? Wish I had your life!

sometimes it's appropriate - if someone is entirely up their own self-pitying arse

Haven't seen any of those posts where people say 'how dare you disagree with a poster'

I've actually been the subject of a few of these. Someone comes on to an Employment thread I've given advice on and strongly disagrees with me, or tells me I don't know what I'm talking about, and people have posted in a 'don't speak to Flowery like that she's an expert and helps loads of people on here' kind of way.

When that happens I do very much appreciate the support, people are very kind. But I do prefer when people just politely point out that actually I may well know what I'm talking about, rather than get cross with disagreeing posters on my behalf because I've been around a while and help people. Because of course posters should be polite and respectful to everyone, and what I've done previously/how long I've been here shouldn't entitle me to more politeness than a new poster.

CurrySpice · 27/06/2012 10:58

OP you realise there's a typo in your title don't you

Just sayin'

Sorry! Couldnt resist!

FWIW I think your OP is pretty tru

manicbmc · 27/06/2012 11:00

Or *true even, Curry. Wink
