1. I find her subjects boring and trite

2. her journalism so petty and childish and ridiculous makes subjects even worse

3. I find it repugnant when she or anyone else in the media makes rude/derogatory comments about people with learning difficulties,....That ALONE should get her the sack

4. there are so many wonderful interesting writers out there - and loads doing great blogs...why/how has this woman still got a job?

Years ago when I lived at home my mum used to get the DM and she had her column in the back of the magazine. I think she was with her husband at the time and wittered on about cats a lot (I assume she still does). She was obviously just as vile and annoying then as she is now as she has stuck with me....

I don't hate her. I do think, like Jamie, there are definitely some MH problems (didn't she have her boobs removed when she was quite young?)
She's very bitter, obviously.

I worked very near a place where a large amount of horses were horribly abused and neglected. She rescued at least two from there. She does really love her animals so for that I give her

But the ONE evidenced previously is ENOUGH in itself.

Trying to get people with LD jobs, in the community - helping them intergrate and earn money - and have equal opportunities is not an easy task.

Its made less so - when a horrid woman like her swishes in somewhere and looks down her nose at them - and THEN goes and writes about it, in a national magazine in a derrogatory manner.

One comment - is one comment too many - but she has made others.

I'm not saying what she said wasn't out of order - however I do doubt she does it 'repeatedly' as you suggest.

I don't hate her, in fact I sometimes enjoy the articles. She is spot on about poor Kate's nude wedges. Other times she makes me mad with her self-obsession and whining.

I have to say, I don't agree with OP saying she constantly makes derogatory comments about LD. If that were the case I wouldn't read her articles.

Days end, she writes for the DM. You pretty much know what you're going to get with the DM so.....just don't read it, you'll be happier for it clearly

well Nancy, you seem to be a HUGE FAN and know her work inside out.

If its not important to you I imagine its easy to miss the casual hideous remarks.

But for me, I have an antena out for them, because my mother strove all her life to try and make my brothers life as pleasant as possible for him, to simply hope that he wasnt treated with derison and casual cruelty, especially when he was born in the time of the " village idiot" and babies like him where left on window sills.

He was the most sweet, gentle kind giving person and it makes me sick that an atifical harridan like her could be so cruel and dismissive of someone like him, and he wouldnt know it.

Its like whispering into a deaf childs ear rude comments about being deaf...who would be that vile and low.

MENCAP and other charities should really be more active and vigourous in taking people like her to task over her illegal remarks.

I dont read her, I used to like YOU mag but dont bother with it anymore.

Just because I dont read her though doesnt make it ok that she makes rude disabled comments and gets away with it and makes money from it. I dont read her at all now - and only read a few articles in the past and quite a few were very very distasteful.

I really don't think I've missed them...I don't think they're there - apart from the one example you give.
