To pay for a football bet to a workmate so I have no money to pay for a loaf of bread for my lunch.

Grrr, no money til tomorrow.

That's why all women should have their own accounts and keep some money in them.

TodaysAGoodDay · 25/06/2012 08:40

What an arse.

TheSpokenNerd · 25/06/2012 08:41

Why has he done that??? I'd go mad! And why have you no account of your own??? OPen one asap...Halifax are very easy to get one with if you think you wont get one....

PizzaSlut · 25/06/2012 08:41

I do have, but it means a trip to the bank and paying parking. Which I can't afford.

MildredIsMyAlterEgo · 25/06/2012 08:43

Leave the bastard Grin

Socknickingpixie · 25/06/2012 08:43

Hence why joint acc are a bad idea

TheSpokenNerd · 25/06/2012 08:44

Yabu then....walk! Or drive to somewhere near the bank and park in a street...and then walk! You have a car....he was silly to do as he did...betting is stupid...but you can get cash.

WorraLiberty · 25/06/2012 08:45

Surely you have a local shop or a supermarket with a cash machine?

Or a couple of quid in a change jar?

PizzaSlut · 25/06/2012 08:49

Old fashioned account that have to go to bank,

Texted friend and borrowing til tomorrow, doesn't solve the problem that he paid the bet, that could've waited til pay day on friday to pay that back.

OP posts:
TheSpokenNerd · 25/06/2012 08:52

More importantly why is he betting with workmates?? Is he living in 1948? In downtown Chigago? Or is he just immature? I would go loopy!

ENormaSnob · 25/06/2012 08:57

I would be livid.

And tbh, if that was the last tenner til payday, wtf is he doing betting?

curiositykitten · 25/06/2012 09:29

Why on earth is he gambling if you are living hand-to-mouth as it is?

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 25/06/2012 09:32

If I were you, I would go to his friend and ask to borrow a pound and explain that you have nothing to eat and need bread and the tenner was the last money until tomorrow. In front of your DH. And all his other mates and/or colleagues.

AnyoneForTennis · 25/06/2012 09:43

Is there anything else for lunch...... Bread doesn't have to be it!

AnAirOfHope · 25/06/2012 09:49

Call him and tell him you need the money and to come home on his lunch break to give it to you.

or

Have something else for lunch. What do you have in frezzer? What did you have for breakfast?

AnAirOfHope · 25/06/2012 09:52

Also take his card off him if he is not going to ask you before taking money out. Or give him a cash allowance each week that fits into your budget.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 25/06/2012 09:53

Joint accounts are not a bad idea.

Marrying a selfish cunt who doesn't think of anyone but himself and is thick enough to bet on the football is a bad idea.

redskyatnight · 25/06/2012 10:07

It's only a "bad" thing because it's your last tenner. Did DH actually realise this?

curiositykitten · 25/06/2012 10:11

*Joint accounts are not a bad idea.

That.

Socknickingpixie · 25/06/2012 12:11

I still think joint accs are a bad idea but I compleatly concur that marrying cunts is also a bad idea

I think to be fair on him I don't think he checked the balance before withdrawing it. He's not usually so selfish and certainly wouldn't leave me and the kids with no money and I don't think he thought we were as skint as that, its just we've come back from holiday, replaced his car and booked the kids into some childcare for the holidays.

I just needed to vent, child benefit goes in tomorrow so we're ok til Fridays payday.

skateboarder · 25/06/2012 12:42

He stiill sounds like an arse tbh. Spending family money on a bet when you dont have any spare.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 25/06/2012 16:48

I'd be worried anyway if we only had a tenner..no matter what it was spent on!
