but do they piss or shit in the park or on the street or in your garden? what is the difference it is piss and shit after all? I find that pretty foul, when Im out and see a dog or cat deficating or peeing or see my neighbours in its garden, but I get over it pretty quick when I look away and no offence or disgust seems to be caused to me. In comparison I would be far less sickened by witnessing a human nappy change.

LadySybil · 25/06/2012 21:42

bogey, there is a difference between a dirty nappy that a six month old produces, and that of a two and ahalf year old.
is this thread about the baby or the toddler? it makes a huge difference.

bogeyface you know as well as I do some children find it difficult to stay still when they're being changed, don't act clueless because I know you're not. Quite a lot of mums on here have been butted by their children...

bogeyface · 25/06/2012 21:44

I would much rather you peed into a bottle on the bus than do what one pissed up bloke did on a bus I was on years ago, which is wet himself and just let it run down the aisle of the bus!

It isnt a question of whether something is right or wrong, so much as what is the best alternative? Leaving a child get nappy rash, scream their head off and still smell, or change them quickly and discreetly and atleast solve 2 out of 3 problems.

And as for saying its feral, that gets the prize from most OTT comment.

WhiteWidow · 25/06/2012 21:44

Dangerous liaison - I'm not even going to bother answering that properly, it's not even worth an opinion because it's a ridiculous comparison. I don't mean to patronise you, but seriously, what the fuck.

everlong i know because i know my daughter.
Oh and the fact that she will happily fall asleep/stop fidgeting and wailing after i change her (and not before, no matter WHAT i do) is a pretty big clue as well..

I've never changed on a bus but have changed DS in his pram with the hood up if I was somewhere where the change room was grotty or there wasn't one

bogeyface · 25/06/2012 21:47

everlong you know your child, so you know the difference between the bored, hungry, tired, stroppy and wet/dirty cries.

And yes white some children do, but many dont. And for the record, I have never changed a nappy on a bus, but if i needed to then I would do it as quickly and quietly as possible, without making a huge song and dance about it, and chances are, no one would have a clue. Most mothers could do the same unless they are completely useless, which would be another issue altogether!

tittytittyhanghang · 25/06/2012 21:47

If i was on a street and knew that I wasn't within 30 mins of baby changing facilities then I would change dc on the street. In a cafe is different as that is a place where people go to specifically to eat, and I would take dc to the toilet/baby changing facility as there would no doubt be one there.

PooPooInMyToes · 25/06/2012 21:47

And if I knew I was going to be on an hour long journey, I'd check it beforehand. If they wee'd during, it wouldn't be wet through, if you'd used decent nappies they'd be able to wait.

Have you not read the posts from myself, quite a few others plus the op saying that this doesn't solve the problem for babys who get extremely sore extremely fast!

I remember changing the nappy once and then going to my friends house 20mins walk away. Got there my baby instantly started crying. Checked her bottom and she had blisters that were already weeping and bleeding. She screamed like i had never heard before, it was awful!

You obviously have no experience of this but plenty of people on here are telling you.

dangerousliaison · 25/06/2012 21:49

it is a reasonable comparison you are offened by piss and shit and the comparison to adult piss and 4 month old baby piss has been made. so what is the difference between adult, baby, human, animal its piss and its shit.

you may feel you are patronsing me in your avoidance to answer but I dont feel patronised Hmm.

bogeyface · 25/06/2012 21:50

Nice try everlong

If i was somewhere with tables then I would assume that there were some sort of toilet facilities nearby so I would use them. I would use a public bench though, although as I change on my knee I dont see an issue as the baby/nappy etc wouldnt go near it.

dangerousliaison · 25/06/2012 21:52

in the street yes, on a park bench yes, on a cafe table no, in a cafe away from people eating yes.

PooPooInMyToes · 25/06/2012 21:52

everlong This discussion boils down to one thing. Standards.

What about standards regarding parenting and preventing your baby from getting blisters on their bum? Or does that not matter because no one else can see the blisters so at least you are keeping up appearances eh.

WhiteWidow · 25/06/2012 21:52

dangerous

I have no aversion to someone changing their nappy in say, a park with a field. That's we're my dogs go, that's where they see sometimes.

My dogs do not go and piss on a bus.

And I don't have a choice if they wee outside

bogeyface · 25/06/2012 21:52

I agree with Dangerous. If baby wee is distastful, then why isnt dog wee? I cant piss in the street without getting into trouble (and not just for indecent exposure!), as it would be considered offensive. But a dog can. Why doesnt that offend you?

BlackOutTheSun · 25/06/2012 21:52

'All of the pro nappy bus changers, what's your stance on changing your baby in the street on a bench or in a cafe at a table?'

If there was no where else to change them, I wouldn't have a problem

bogeyface · 25/06/2012 21:53

poopoo dont bite Wink

Aaah, I see! Because you have dogs!

Well forgive me for finding your dogs annoying and smelly, which they are. But I accept that they have a place on earth and have a physical need to rid their body of waste products just as I do. I dont like it but I accept it. Shame you cant do the same.
