It has been out for over a year, it has no storyline as such and as for it being an 'erotic thriller' all I can say is people can't have read a lot else. AIBU to be utterly sick of everyone jumping on the bandwagon and saying on fb 'Oooh I've got THE book'

YANBU

You should recommend they watch Worra does Wimbledon on DVD Grin

Craftymoo · 23/06/2012 22:53

That cheers me up. I had to ask on FB if I was ever going to get to the smut! After about 50 pages I have given up and gone back to my other books (Whispers Under Ground- FWIW!).

noseynoonoo · 23/06/2012 23:03

I had a quick look at it in Sainsburys the other day - seemed like a poor version of Jackie Collins. It didn't strike me as erotic at all - have certainly red better but I'd have to namechange to go further with that!!

CrispyCod · 24/06/2012 02:17

I read on t'internet that it has been/is being made into a film.

Disturbing.

Also, that 'special' merchandise is also for sale. Can't see them stocking it at ASDA to be honest Grin

YABU because you just started yet another fecking thread about it

MissPants · 24/06/2012 08:04

YANBU I can't think of anything more mundane than 90% of the female population going to bed every night with identical shit fantasies. I read it when it was still a fan fic and it was so repetitive and shallow. I expect a storyline and characters worth giving a shit about with my filth thank you very much. I'm avoiding FB for the foreseeable for this reason exactly, before I post a status along the lines of "having a glass of wine and then going to bed for an epic shag with MrPants because I'm not a vapid twat".

EugenesAxe · 24/06/2012 08:10

No. I don't really know anything about it. It sounds like the kind of book I hate; like 'Goodbye Jimmy Choo'.

Should have added books that reference designers on the 'things you are snobby about' thread

EugenesAxe · 24/06/2012 08:10

Ooops - 'yes' (to enough already...).

Bossybritches22 · 24/06/2012 08:32

YANBU .... badly written story with abusive role play that poses as erotic literature.

Loved it, wish I'd written it, enjoyed some giggles about it and perked up my libido...skips off to pancakes and bacon. Wink

snuffaluffagus · 24/06/2012 09:57

Oh yes, it's so badly written and just generally shit.

It only recently dawned on me that it's a book.

I kept seeing thread titles and thought it was about paint/diy or somethingBlush. Sounded dull so I never clicked on them.

McHappyPants2012 · 24/06/2012 10:06

i Loved reading it and i have read all 3 books.

runnindownadream · 24/06/2012 10:13

I haven't read it yet - can't get a copy (although give it a few weeks and I'm sure the charity shops will be flooded with them!)

I spent my teenage years reading Jackie Collins, Jilly Cooper and a prized copy of the then "It" book Malibu by Pat Booth (much to my mothers disapproval when she caught me reading it!) - it will be interesting to see exactly how it compares to them.

threestepsforward · 24/06/2012 10:59

To add to the repetitive 'bites lip', 'inner goddess' thing, how many times did he have to mention that she 'fell' into his office! Jeez!

Horrendously written books but I still ploughed through them Blush

Yes indeed, the charity shops will be groaning with the books in the next few months!

JoannaFight · 24/06/2012 11:18

Oh god yes the thought that en masse everyone is reading the exact same erotic stuff. That'd kill it for me. So formulaic. Reminds of '1984' where pulp literature and music is churned out.

madamehooch · 24/06/2012 11:32

Prepare for even more hype as it's reprinting at the moment and becoming really hard to get hold of. We had 120 copies arrive in our shop Thursday. Yesterday, we sold out! Some really clever marketing strategies have been used in its promotion - I'm just waiting for 'Mr Grey' ties to hit the shops!

Mia4 · 24/06/2012 14:06

YANBU, but that's my opinion because evryone, everyone in RL won't shut up about it and I've had many telling me that I just don't get BDSM and that's why I don't like it. Actually, i get it, I've done it and fifty shades ain't BSDM as it should be. It's someone whose never done it's idea, with manipulation in many places. Or I've been told I'm prudish when actually, again, i like reading smut- I just don't think that/those books are that smutty. Sorry rant over, just tired of being one of the few that seems to not care for.

Laughable thing is it wouldn't bother me that much if people would just shut up trying to convince me of why i don't like it (in their opinion) and why i should.
