to think that you shouldn't be playing COD or grand theft auto while your 22month old child is in the room

I know lots of people play these games but surely you shouldn't play them with DCs in the room

parent seems to think that because DC is young they don't really know what's going on in the game

is it just me that thinks this is wrong?

YANBU, but then My ILs thought I was weird because I banned my DC from watching SIL and BIL play just those sort of games.

StuntGirl · 23/06/2012 22:13

YANBU. I'm an avid gamer and I wouldn't let someone under the age rating watch me play. Just as I wouldn't let them watch a film if they were younger than the rating.

MyLittleMiracles · 23/06/2012 23:16

Unless of course that game happened to be football which i dont think is bad for any kid to see really, i mean you would let them watch a match, but its rated 3 plus, i suppose cos kids shouldnt be playing computers before then? PERSONALLY THOUGH I think all football games should be burnt

Springforward · 23/06/2012 23:18

YANBU.

I wuldnt watch a film or play a video game that had an age rate with my child there.
Theres so many kids in my childs school who hav played 'call of duty' for example n i find this terrible. These kids are at 10 yrs younger than the rating.

curiositykitten · 24/06/2012 10:57

YANBU. I have given up having this argument with my ex-h. :(

Meglet · 24/06/2012 12:17

yanbu.

YANBU, 15 or 18 rating games can contain extreme violence and/or sexual content. It astonishes me that there are parents who would never in a million years let their young children watch Saw or other films of that sort of genre, but have no problem with their kids watching them play violent video games.

I say this as somebody who does play computer games, if it's a 15 or an 18 then it doesn't get played until the DCs are in bed.
