To wish DH would watch the TV when he says he's going to, not wander off!

He keeps doing this - comes into room where I am reading, and says 'can I watch the football (or whatever)' I always say yes because someone is often watching something different on the other telly.

Then after about 20 minutes he wanders of to make himself a cuppa and doesn't come back because he's been distracted by something or decided to have a bath or some such nonsense. And I'm left with Germany vs. Greece blaring out when I'm trying to read.

(yes I know I could get up and turn it off blah blah blah, but it's always a while before I realise he's disappeared and not coming back.)

YANBU! My dh did this last night with the football, but went to sleep about 15 minutes after kick off!

I say went to sleep not fell asleep because he deliberately got himself in a comfy position to fall asleep (I can tell) and took off the glasses he would need to be able to watch the poxy football.

Very annoying!

MamaMumra · 22/06/2012 21:05

Switch it off straight away!

MamaMumra · 22/06/2012 21:07

Grin DH does the sleep thing but always wakes up when I turn off the tv

Yanbu btw

Umicar · 22/06/2012 21:08

Op, I could have written your post! I am sat here with a sleeping 3 day old, unable to reach the remote, with the blooming football shouting at me. Where is my DH??!

KurriKurri · 22/06/2012 21:08

He's just reappeared - he was having bath apparently Hmm now he's insisting I pay close attention to a brilliant goal by Germany

He also does the falling asleep (and snoring) thing Outraged.

I have given up watching TV. DH ALWAYS has sport on. ALWAYS. We have a tv upstairs that Iuse to watch my one (1 hour) show a week, but thats it. I think it is nicer if we are at least on the same floor of the house rather than different ones watching different shows. So I stay down here and muck around on the PC. That way we actually manage to ahve a conversation in passing.

Oh, but to the point, yes, he turns it on then spends half the evening out the back having a fag!! Woe betide if I change the channel while he is out the back!

Why do men think they own the tv rights?!?

Sparklingbrook · 22/06/2012 21:11

Kurri DH is always doing it. Then falls asleep actually clutching the TV remote. Angry

CheshireDing · 22/06/2012 21:13

YANBU.

DH puts a film on the gets his stupid I Phone out and starts Tweeting (or some similar crap I have no knowledge of).

Umicar when he comes back I hope he understands he has forgone his chance at the TV now Grin

BellaDesconocida · 22/06/2012 21:15

YANBU, my DH does the same. I switch it off, half an hour later he comes back in, outraged that the tv is off when he'd "only been out of the room 5 minutes".

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 22/06/2012 21:16

DH is here beside me on the sofa, snoring away, with Germany thrashing Greece in front of me. VERY LOUDLY because DH is a little bit deaf but can seep through anything. At least I have my iPad and Mumsnet for company!!

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 22/06/2012 21:18

I just hope Germany rally does beat Greece because if they don't then Europe really is going to fall apart.

No self respecting German person would be able to vote to save Greece re their austerity package.

Ja wol!

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 22/06/2012 21:18

*really

KurriKurri · 22/06/2012 21:19

It's most annoying when we are watching something with a plot, because he disappears and when he comes back he wants you to tel him what happens - so you miss the next bit of the programme Angry

OMG four - one

I guess our world is not going to implode then...

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 22/06/2012 21:21

kurri sky+ has saved my marriage for that exact reason Wink

elportodelgato · 22/06/2012 21:25

Sadly I am with the sports-loving DHs on this one. There is literally nothing I love more than falling asleep in front of sport on the telly Grin ideally cricket or rugby but not too fussy as long as it's not formula 1. Curl up and sleep as well ladies, it's so lovely

KurriKurri · 22/06/2012 21:27

He's now standing right on front of the TV shouting things like 'yeeeeeeeeees' and 'go ooooooooon'

Umicar · 22/06/2012 21:31

Thank you Kurri. DH is back now, but seems to have missed every single goal by wandering off at the wrong moment. Thankfully only few mins left...
