To not want to go home home and face the misery?

I am at work, approaching knock off time, and to be honest I'd rather stay here.

DH and DS have both been ill with colds all week - typical man flu, feeling like death and making sure I know all about it.

Teen DD is in the thoes of breaking up with her first serious boyfriend and spends most of her time either crying or blathering on rationalising about what she should do.

My sympathy levels are running low, and the only thing that seems appealing about home at the moment is the cold bottle of pinot in the fridge.

By the way, this was meant to be a light-hearted rant when I started typingWink

Can you not book yourself into a lovely hotel for the weekend? Lots of sleep and getting pissed room service.Grin

Tell them there's been a disaster at work, you've had to take over, the whole thing could go kaput without you, then before they get a word in edge ways say" Gotta go, New York's on the phone".

That sounds very appealing witch!! Even just thinking about it has cheered me up:o

Do it! G'wan MN dares you! Grin.

SlipperyNipple · 22/06/2012 16:38

Could you go for drinks after work? They sound old enough to look after themselves.

Slippery I think your suggestion is more do-able and less guilt-inducing, I'll get onto Facebook now and see who's around this evening. Thanks!!

Go to the pictures on your own and pretend you're 'in a meeting'

get popcorn, ben and jerrys all to yourself. Wink

I love the pictures on my own! A lovely secret.

rubberglove · 22/06/2012 16:58

So jealous, not of the man flu and hormonal teenagers, but the impending spontaneous night out

FFSIvehadenoughofthisnow · 23/06/2012 08:00

Had a good night, my batteries have been recharged(and no hangover-common sense butted in at the right moment:))
Thanks MNers for cheering me up with your helpful suggestions -you're great!
