To think if you care enough to fly the Union Flag you ought to know which way up it goes?

I drove me mad during the Jubilee celebrations and now the flags have appeared again for the football. I can't believe how many people are flying their national flag upside down.

It goes this way up with the wider diagonal white stripe at the top on the side of the flag nearest the flagpole (or the top left if no pole)

Can you imagine any other nation flying their flag the wrong way up?!

Phyllis that was my point, no-one I have seen is flying the Union Flag for the football because we don't have a British team.

YANBU!

I think if it's upside down it's meant to indicate distress. Or an insult to the crown. Whatever

Maybe we could intergrate little Welsh dragons at the top with their tails pointing heavenwards in a 'this way up' fashion.

It's supposedly really offensive to fly it upside down. Someone once told me the reason but I didn't care enough to commit it to memory.
I don't think its a very nice flag.

My favourite flags are the Welsh flag (I'm not remotely welsh but it is possible the coolest flag in the world), Uraguay flag, and the flag of kiribati

I am not from any of those places.

OK, now I now what I'm looking for, I saw an upside down one today in the town centre.
