To sit my 6 months olden front of the TV for 20 minutes

It's been a long day, she was up at 4:15 and by the time she was ready to go back down my 8 year old was up and needed getting ready for school.

I've had to stay in today as I am waiting for someone to pick something up, so not only going a bit stir crazy in the house but also no chance to go back to bed when she did as I might have missed them. She hasn't been in the best of moods.

It's the first time I've purposely put her in front of the TV but she always takes an interest in it if it's on so I thought I'd give it a try. AIBU to want 15 minutes to myself?

Nothing bad will happen, the world will keep turning, your baby will be fine. Do it and give yourself a break.

seriously? you need to ask?

just do it.. she wont suddenly explode, go blind, turn into a couch potato or be corrupted... Grin

no one will die as a result of you putting your child in front of a TV. I have read all books for and against twice over.

rhondajean · 20/06/2012 14:03

I used to put mines in front of the washing machine, they seemed to find it hypnotic and soothing.

Tv for a little bit will not harm. We all need a break sometimes.

YANBU. But someone will be along in a minute to link to studies showing that children who watch TV have brain disease and ASBOs.

If you are asking, you probably think it's not the right thing to do. But you did it because you needed to for your sanity. So it was the right thing to do.

Doesn't matter. We all do something wrong!

Ds used to love an episode or two of teletubbies at that age Grin

Go for it. Everyone needs five mins peace and the world is not gonna end if a baby watches tv. :)

thebody · 20/06/2012 14:07

Of course not, have a cuppa and rest.

Pascha · 20/06/2012 14:09

Mr Tumble is a great nanny.

Louboo2245 · 20/06/2012 14:14

I love Mr. Tumble. I like the opening song to Mr. Blooms nursery, but can't stand the actual programme

Hey, if she melts she melts.

Enjoy your cuppa, and leave her in the capable hands of Mr Tumble.
