...to face rape/sexual assault allegations?

OP posts:
ophelia275 · 22/06/2012 16:06

He is really really creepy looking. I wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley. YANBU - he should either stand trial and clear his name if innocent he has nothing to hide. But all this faffing about is starting to make him look guilty/even more paranoid than he already is!

ThePathanKhansWitch · 22/06/2012 16:09

My mum called him Julia for a few weeks. Until we pointed out that Julia was a man.

As I understand it, both women claim that he had sex with them without using a condom, even though they had previously agreed to sex (with a condom).

It's only when comparing notes so to speak, that they realised this happened to both of them and decided that it wasn't a 'mistake' and went to the police. Of course this is all allegedly. I have no idea if this is a crime in the UK - probably not. It could be a US conspiracy, but given the backgrounds of the women, I think that's unlikely.

So yes, JA should fuck off back to Sweden and answer the charges in court

PandaWatch · 22/06/2012 16:26

I'm sure the truth will come out in the next installment of Wikileaks.

ThePathanKhansWitch · 22/06/2012 16:37

Do you think they are feeding him Ferrero Roche at the Embassy?

SuchProspects · 22/06/2012 16:40

Triffid why do you think that sex someone did not consent to would not be considered a crime in the UK?

izzyizin · 22/06/2012 18:06

But how will Jules be liberated get from Hans Crescent to Ecuador in one piece?

Ecuadoran helicopter hovering over roof of embassy, Jules climbing stairway to heaven floodlit rope ladder, airlifted to Ecuadoran navy vessel moored off the Isle of Wight, and onward to Quito via the Panama Canal?

Jules trussed up like a turkey in a diplomatic bag and flung into the hold of an Ecuadoran Airlines flight from hell the North Terminal at Gatwick?

Both of the above would take ol' Jules dangerously close to Guantanamo Bay Cuba and I wouldn't put it past the CIA Uncle Sam to seize any opportunity for a spot of rendering.

Bleeding obvious, innit. Burka-clad Jules crosses road from embassy into back door of Harrods, strolls through food halls and mens shirts, exits out of front door into Sheikh Itallabout's waiting Rolls, whisper quiet drive to Biggin Hill, private jet to Switzerland Iran. Sorted.

BlackOutTheSun · 22/06/2012 18:08

But the police are waiting outside for him, as soon as he steps outside he will be arrested.

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 22/06/2012 18:18

Anyone seen this:

Colouring Book Grin

izzyizin · 22/06/2012 18:23

The police can't go stopping and searching burka wearers without due cause for fear of violating yuman rites, and they could seriously come a croppper if they happened to uncover the wrong wo/man in little Riyadh the vicinity of some of the most expensive properties in London, Sun.

I doubt that the powers that be will want a variation on the Libyan Embassy siege which resulted in all of the inhabitants departing these shores without let or hindrance even though one of them had shot a police woman. RIP PC Yvonne Fletcher.

izzyizin · 22/06/2012 18:36

I'm going to have hours of fun with that toy, Car. Jules looks unrecognisable with jet black hair and a suntan Grin

If Ecuador gives him a passport in a new name, such as Don Juan de Legova, he could pop on a sombero and travel back to May-he-co with a mariarchi band who've ended their tour of these sceptred Isles.

All things are possible.

Does anyone know if Jules is of Icelandic heritage?

BlackOutTheSun · 22/06/2012 18:36

But they must know how tall he is. If someone comes out wearing a burka the same height as JA, search them! Grin

izzyizin · 22/06/2012 19:10

He could wear a pair of Jemima's Manolos, Sun.

What chance would the police have if 100 of his same height supporters donned the garb and assembled rowdily on the steps of the embassy immediately prior to Jules emerging?

Have you had a go at Car's colouring book? 'Tis good.

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 22/06/2012 19:33

Glad you're enjoying it Izzy Grin Have you had a look in the galley? Some of the pictures are amazing!

izzyizin · 22/06/2012 19:59

The gallery is brilliant, Car, and I intend to submit my finished creation in due course.

O ye of little faith, Sun.

Take a look at the gallery in Car's link - Jules'll have no problem fooling eluding the the Met's finest Grin

Minimammoth · 22/06/2012 20:22

As he is beginning to look earily like Benny Hill. I hope he will exit to Yakkity Sax.

izzyizin · 22/06/2012 22:04

That would be a fitting end to the saga Mini.

In the inimitable style of Benny Hill, Jules could play all the roles - chasing a couple of scantily clad women up the M4 followed by policemen waving truncheons before nipping into a field underneath the Heathrow turnoff sign, hand cranking the propellor of a Rubber Band Airways plane, piloting said plane ( with a wink and a doff of his captain's helmet), and strutting his stuff as the trolley dolly.

Thanks to BH, the script writes itself Grin

If only Jules had checked into the Russian Embassy...

LaLaGabby · 22/06/2012 23:32

Whatever you may think about the sexual assault allegations, the truth is that Assange is not going to be extradited to the US.

The reason why not is that if he was, they would find it hard to charge him with anything appropriate and would definitely not be able to convict him. They have clear and strong laws protecting the right to publish information like this. For instance the website which published Sarah Palin's hacked emails did not face any charges although it was a very dubious chat site (4chan) rather than a news source and there was no real public interest justification.

He is not some anonymous person picked up in Afghanistan that they can get away with sending around the world secretly to be tortured. For the US to attempt to prosecute him would just remind everyone of the whole scandal and leave them looking very silly.

izzyizin · 23/06/2012 00:17

That's not what Julien thinks, Gabby: www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=usa%20case%20against%20julien%20assange&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CAsQqQIwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rt.com%2Fnews%2Fassange-us-building-case-453%2F&ei=O_TkT6jaLIa_8gP25qmbCg&usg=AFQjCNHv6BCLLkdcGDD0_wpemnIPduxeEQ&cad=rja

Joking aside, he's got cause for what may seem to be a case of paranoia to some.

It's election year in the US. The movers, shakers hawks, doves, are engaged in the customary power play. Strings are being yanked, favours called for and returned, trade-offs negotiated and deals made.

The reality is that Julien Assange's fate may depend on what the powers behind the White House consider to be headline grabbers and vote catchers for Obama or Romney.

Politics can be a dirty business.

Triffiddealer · 23/06/2012 00:30

Triffid why do you think that sex someone did not consent to would not be considered a crime in the UK?

I was really querying the law about sex and condom use is in the UK. So, if, for example, I consent to have sex with a man, but say I want him to use a condom - he makes all the right noises but doesn't actually put the condom on - is that rape? Sexual assault? I don't know how that would be judged in the UK. (Again - just asking out of interest, not implying this is what happened)

Secondly, although I know that sex without consent is rape legally in the UK - I think you'd be hard pressed to get a case to court where you'd originally consented to sex, he stayed over and then had sex with you without your consent. I don't think the CPS would dream of taking that on (but I agree that has nothing to do with the law which states that it's rape if there is no consent).

tittytittyhanghang · 23/06/2012 00:36

Im a bit [hmmm] at the sexual offences. Can someone please clarify as from what I have read, the sex was consensual, but the not wearing a condom was not, and they only decided to complain when they realised JK was sleeping with both of them. Or have I got this wrong.

DilysPrice · 23/06/2012 00:47

Sex while someone is asleep is definitely rape in the UK. Sex without a condom with a sleeping partner who has previously given specific consent to sex with a condom only is definitely definitely rape. So yes, regardless of whether the allegations are true, or whether the CPS would fancy their chances of a conviction in a UK court in the absence of other evidence, it's definitely extraditable.
