Especially as it's now 2:50 and I had to take a half day leave to get home for 1:30.

Sorry, op wasn't clear - unprofessional as in vague timing, rather than that specific time ;)

Depends on whats its for. HV for example does this. She can time exactly how long she will be at each.
whoever it is should at least call to advise if they are gointo be late though.

Do you mean the appt starts at 1.30 and ends at 2.30 or that it starts any time between 1.30 and 2.30?

And what's the appointment for or who's it with? (not being nosy, it's just depending on your answer there may or may not be a valid reason for being vague and/or late!)

Not uncommon for a home visit. I guess form the timing of your post that you aren't in the UK?

misslinnet · 19/06/2012 07:58

Usually this happens because whoever's doing the appointments can't guarantee that they'll be able to make a specific time i.e. it'll be 1:30 if morning appointments run to time, but up to 2:30 if they don't.

I agree it's annoying for you though.

I do this, I'm afraid. It's the only way I can fit all the work into the day. If I offered everyone an appointment at a set time, then either (a) I would have to leave at a set time, whether the appointment was finished or not, or else (b) I'd have to sit around the corner with a book waiting for the next appointment, instead of going in straight away

It depends on the type of appointment. I schedule engineers out to customers every day, and the only slot that I can give a short window of time for arrival is the first one, after that it is 10-12, 12-3 and 3-5, simply because I dont know how long each appointment might take, what the traffic will be like, cancellations etc..
