DD is 4 months old and am ebf. No intention to give it up before six months, but I REALLY miss drinking! Will happily have a v small amount of wine with a meal, but miss being about to go out to a pub and drink with abandon. It's not just the breast-feeding, its also the overwhelming sense of responsibility, knowing that my choices don't just affect me anymore. Someone please tell me that I will be to enjoy a boozy evening in the pub again one day?

The very rudest of health to you too Madame

bogeyface · 18/06/2012 22:32

I really can't see people mentioning your gender, I think you have bought it into the conversation.

I put my hand up to that one although it was a bit obscure and easily missed, I referred to his DH, so I did assume he was a she.

And I too would like to toast Lentilli for those words of wisdom.

Elkieb · 18/06/2012 22:38

Ah, my mistake there. I am liking all this toasting though. Cheers to you bogey!

You are also judging me by assuming I am a female!!

considering probably 98% of the posters on here are female, that is hardly a surprise is it?

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 18/06/2012 23:01

As this debate has turned to the usual drinkers vs non drinkers paranoia that the other is judging them when they are not looking Grin can I just say

It's never about what you're drinking, it's about who your drinking with.

I don't drink. Nor do I have a stick up my arse, thankyou. I am the only non drinker in my circle of friends, they are good friends and non of them give a flying fuckola that I don't imbibe alchohol. We're happy to be together because we're friends.

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 18/06/2012 23:02

and the reason I don't drink alcohol I because if I can't spell it sober, I'd be fucking dreadful on here pissed Hmm Grin

Mud in yer eye Elkieb!

Are you no more a fool by any chance Wink ?

bogeyface · 18/06/2012 23:11

:o honey

But the point is that you didnt post "I dont need to pour poison into my body to have fun" did you? I drink, I didnt always drink, doesnt bother me either way what people do. What does bother me is people who use their choices, be it about drinking, eating, parenting, working....blah blah ... to put others down or big themselves up. Thats what happened above, and thats what annoyed people.

My dad doesnt drink but can enjoy the craic like anyone, infact he starts most of it! My mum on the other hand sits behind her bitter lemon (there's irony) with a cats bum face at anyone who has alcohol. She annoys people, he doesnt. In the same way that a drinker in a room full of non drinkers who joined in and had a good time wouldnt annoy anyone, but a drinker who was calling them boring or no fun would be very very irritating.

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 18/06/2012 23:15

no but I do need to pour poison down my throat to stop me killing the children every morning

bogeyface · 18/06/2012 23:22

Caffeine?!

I might mainline Pinot but I would never sully my body with caffeine!

Seriously, I love my wine, but I never touch caffeine :o

Just goes to show!

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 18/06/2012 23:29

I gave up Coca Cola 18 months ago. It was waaaaaay harder than wine. Because all the crap in it is much more addictive. I had a foul temper, shakes every morning and evening, and a constant headache for four months. Evil fucking stuff is coke.

Coffee and Mumsnet are the only vices I have left Sad

bogeyface · 18/06/2012 23:36

Honey I know what you mean.

I went cold turkey on caffeine when i was pg with #3, when the dangers of caffeine in pg were hitting the headlines, and it was hell. I felt like I had really bad flu for weeks. I was shakey, snappy, achey, bad head, just really really ill.

I have never had a hangover, or stopped drinking alcohol for pg, that ever felt as bad as giving up coffee and coke!

GoodPhariseeofDerby · 18/06/2012 23:59

Saying alcohol is a poison (which it obviously is in large amount, hence alcohol poisoning) does bring the argument up to daft levels. Water is intoxicating and poisonous if enough is drank, but drinking enough for an adult is very hard to do (not so much for babies).

I don't drink either, and do not get the appeal, but I get missing something once enjoyed. Right now, I am missing froot loops and fruit pebbles (children's cereals) and caramel creams (old fashion US candies) as they are not easily available here, would you argue I should not live in the UK if I'm going to miss things from the States (odd food/beverages being the only thing I miss...I'm quite happy to leave the rest).
