My parents seem to think we are!

Admittedly i've not thought beyond the invite and RSVP part (that will be the end of the invite in the style of a tear off stub) and how it will work in terms of the table plan and the rest but I think the idea is sound and DP and I like it.

Of you like it then do it, it's your wedding!

I like it Smile

diabolo · 16/06/2012 18:27

I think you should do whatever you please - it's your wedding.

wheresthepopcorn · 16/06/2012 18:27

No, it's cute.

Pascha · 16/06/2012 18:28

Oh yes do it. Always nice to receive something a little bit different like that.

SpottyTeacakes · 16/06/2012 18:28

It sounds great.... Check this link out

concert ticket wedding invites

I like the fresh paper ones on etsy

WilsonFrickett · 16/06/2012 18:32

Cool. Do it.

BellaOfTheBalls · 16/06/2012 18:32

Great idea!

CanISawItOff · 16/06/2012 18:34

Thanks all!

Bonus is it's cheap (nigh on free) compared to traditional invites especially if we do it ourselves.

Think we're just going to have to stand our ground on this.

Not at all, that sounds a nice idea.

SiioCal · 16/06/2012 18:36

Thats an amazing idea jealous I never thought of that Grin

scarletforya · 16/06/2012 18:38

I love that idea!

Inertia · 16/06/2012 18:41

What's it got to do with your parents? Presumably they already had a turn at choosing invites if they got married?

If they are paying, then it might be a sign of how much they intend to interfere so might be something you want to reconsider.

NenNen · 16/06/2012 18:44

That sounds amazing! Can I come? If the invites are anything to go by I'm sure the rest of the wedding will be fab.

The trouble with weddings is that everyone has an opinion. Do what you like - its your day!

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 16/06/2012 18:50

It's a lovely idea and nothing to do with your parents (unless they are paying) but it's still your day and I bet your guests will love it.

Still, you should have heard all the arguments about feathers and pate before my wedding. It's all part of the fun.

Those etsy invites are stunning.

CanISawItOff · 16/06/2012 18:51

My siblings managed to piss them off with their weddings so all the pressure is on us to live up to their expectations. No finanacial input from them though.

Thanks we'll plod on as planned and keep our heads behind the sandbags to avoid any impending shrapnel from the parental explosion!

Oh how cool is that! Love them.

I think it's hard if other people are paying for stuff. I assume you're paying for the invites so you do what you like.

My extended family helped considerably with ours(as very generous wedding gifts) and that was so kind of them-I therefore didn't mind at all when pil wanted to invite several of their friends that I'd never met to the wedding-after all they had paid for half the reception-we also asked their opinino before we chose the venue-they'd been to more weddings than us.

My Mum chose the little bridesmaids dresses because she paid for them.

Aunty had free reign with the cake because she made it.

Mil came with me to choose flowers as she paid for them and I knew nothing about that kind of thing.

My brother paid for my dress, but after I'd designed it and ordered it and he wouldn't have got a say-I do have my limits Grin

DizzyKipper · 16/06/2012 18:53

Love it Grin Who cares if your parents don't agree, you're never going to do something that absolutely everyone likes so just go for what's right for you.

McKayz · 16/06/2012 18:54

I think they sound really cool!! Go for it!!

PurplePidjin · 16/06/2012 18:59

Some friends of dp bought up a load of 7" singles from charity shops and printed the invites on the labels. They had beautiful cardboard sleeves, too. They're not exactly minted so it can't have been horrifically expensive, but it was a seriously cool thing to arrive in the post!

planetpotty · 16/06/2012 19:19

Sub zero cool.

Seriously parents know nothing HmmGrin

Sounds like a great idea!

blonderthanred · 16/06/2012 19:53

We did old-style theatre playbills.

Love an original wedding invitation. Go for it.
