The picture of the women on the pier in swimsuits oddly reminds me of a photo of a 1940s or 1950s beauty contest! (Yes, that's how thin they are!)

pixiestix · 15/06/2012 14:09

Ha, you got me. I had my judgy pants hoiked up to my chin when I clicked on your thread title. Grin

BasilDonna · 15/06/2012 14:10

Well, if you look carefully, one of them has some extra couple of ounces on fat on her thighs.

BasilDonna · 15/06/2012 14:11

I was being sarcastic.
I promise..

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 15/06/2012 14:16

Latara, there is no way those women are what most people would consider to be plus size, but they are not thin either. Sorry but they are just not.

Thin is size 8 or below in my mind. Slim is a size 10, or 12 depending on body shape.

At a guess I would have thought those women were a 14. That is not thin.

AThingInYourLife · 15/06/2012 14:17

I was expecting a picture of some young female cattle :o

crabbyoldbat · 15/06/2012 14:17

Sugarbatty - model in the Evans catalogue: www.evans.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CatalogNavigationSearchResultCmd?catalogId=33054&storeId=12553&langId=-1&viewAllFlag=false&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=397516&parent_categoryId=209427&beginIndex=1&pageSize=24&interstitial=true&intcmpid=Featurescat

I think all their models are plus-sized (at least a 16, anyway) - they're just tall and not flabby

AThingInYourLife · 15/06/2012 14:20

No way are those women a size 14.

They are slim, around a 10 or 12 max.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 15/06/2012 14:24

You really think they are a 10? I disagree. The woman in the picture at the top could be a 12, but I don't think the women in the line are.

Although its hard to tell, the swimsuits are not a flattering cut at all.

SugarBatty · 15/06/2012 14:24

I still think they should also use models bigger than a 16 as I'm sure most of their customers are over a size 16,

manicbmc · 15/06/2012 14:26

Does it still taste like cardboard?

Cockwomble · 15/06/2012 14:28

i dread to think what size you'd judge me as!

OP posts:
SugarBatty · 15/06/2012 14:28

Yes manic it does, I have it most mornings! Grin

manicbmc · 15/06/2012 14:29

I'll give it a miss then, no matter what size their models are.

Cockwomble · 15/06/2012 14:30

What do think 14 is then freddo? I agree you couldn't call it thin on most people, dependent on height, but where would you put it?

OP posts:
OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 15/06/2012 14:31

I wouldn't judge you as anything!

You started a thread about the size of these women, that's the only reason I've paid it any attention at all.

I'm also vaguely interested in the whole special K diet thing, because I've tried it but without fail, I always put on weight when I eat cereal. Any cereal. I miss cereal.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 15/06/2012 14:32

What do you mean?

A 14 is a 14. Except in some shops it's a 12 and in some shops it's a 16.

Cockwomble · 15/06/2012 14:38

I mean in terms of what you said upthread about the appearance of smaller sizes:

Thin is size 8 or below in my mind. Slim is a size 10, or 12 depending on body shape.

Like, where you class it on your internal scale as it were - chubby? Chunky?

OP posts:
Cockwomble · 15/06/2012 14:39

I'm asking out of interest btw, nothing more! Not trying to attack your opinion

OP posts:
AThingInYourLife · 15/06/2012 14:44

To take pictures like that, I think they are 10-12.

14 looks chunkier that that through a camera lens.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 15/06/2012 14:55

Erm, I don't know really! I'd never thought about it like that until this thread. I have an opinion on a size 10 being slim but thats because im talking about myself, and i feel a long way from thin as a big size 10. I guess I think over 16 and anything between a 10 and a 14 is just 'normal' as in neither fat or thin. 14 -16 probably 'chunky'.

But I don't know, I feel horrible typing all that!

MarysBeard · 15/06/2012 15:00

The women pictured look a healthy weight to me, not plus sized.

MarysBeard · 15/06/2012 15:04

I'm a size 14, 5'7" and at least a stone overweight, but quite toned and fit and I don't think I'm massive but I look bigger than that in photos, I can tell you.

Anyway, if any of those women walked into a room, or down a beach, most men would be like "Hubba Hubba!" not "Ugh, how fat!"

Cockwomble · 15/06/2012 15:13

It's really interesting to chat about this stuff, I think we all feel differently about whats big and what's little in relation to ourselves.
