Do you have, or know anyone that does, principles that would absolutely not be ditched in the event of greater wealth?

Their chicken in a bun is nice as well. God I am craving the bloody Wimpy now. Who started it???

Scummy, we accepted the offered school as after we had looked round it it was fine, 3 bloody miles away though and how they expect people without cars to sort out transport etc I don't know but we get transport anyway (if we want) due to road safety issues but he says he doesn't want to go in a taxi either Confused

Fio :3 children and 3 different schools 15 miles apart:

ExitPursuedByABear · 14/06/2012 17:01

OK - I'll ask.

What is a Bender in a Bun?

If it is rude please spare my blushes.

scummymummy · 14/06/2012 17:02

Shall we have a summer mumsnet meetup in the Margate Wimpy to cheer babyfio up?

Hullygully · 14/06/2012 17:02

look exit ^^

Hullygully · 14/06/2012 17:02

Are there swingers in that one?

FioFio · 14/06/2012 17:03

It's a frankfurter in a bun :o

if you make small slits accross a frankfurter and pop it under the grill to cooks it naturally curls into a circle. When cooked you put it into a sesame seeded bun, pop some cooked onions into the middle of the curl, top with a slice of cheese and a slice of tomato and some ketchup and viola, you have a bender in a bun :)

FioFio · 14/06/2012 17:04

there are usually loads of drunk people in the margate one :o

scummymummy · 14/06/2012 17:04

That's rubbish, fio. What is the transport like? My boys go too far away too, also because of crap about getting into nearer schools and I was SOOO worried about them making the journey but actually it seems to be the highlight of their day. They muck about with their friends as they jump from bus to bus to get there.

scummymummy · 14/06/2012 17:06

rubbish about your boy having to go miles away, I meant. Not rubbish that there are drunks in the margate wimpy!

FioFio · 14/06/2012 17:06

dd has council run transport with escorts and ds1 gets a private run bus outside the house but I don't know about ds2 and EVERY year it goes to tender

scummymummy · 14/06/2012 17:09

Grrrr to stupid school shit and transport tenders. Is there no sibling policy so that he can go to ds1's school?

scummymummy · 14/06/2012 17:09

Must go and get daughter. Will be back later to complete day of idleness on mumsnet. I've had a great day!

FioFio · 14/06/2012 17:10

no because it's a 3 tier system and ds1 left the lower school a year ago. My own fault for having a bonus baby i suppose Wink

FioFio · 14/06/2012 17:11

it's been lovely talking to you scummy :o I will have to pick dh up and go to work in a bit as well

I think that's a really unfair reading of that thread, LeQueen and a little unfair to bring it up considering people aren't here to defend themselves.

Hullygully · 14/06/2012 17:18

I do have to say I think it very odd to make one's offspring travel cattle while going business oneself.

OP posts:
NarkedRaspberry · 14/06/2012 17:26

Yes. It would be like putting them in one carriage on the train and then settling yourself in the next one, leaving other people to parent them.

In fact, it sounds splendid Grin. Unfortunately, the other passengers would eventually seize control of the plane and demand that it was diverted to the nearest airport to unload us all.

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 14/06/2012 17:26

I think that's quite a snobbish and unfair post.
I remember that thread and didn't feel 'moral indignation' but I definitely think it's a rum thing to do.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 14/06/2012 17:30

Older children, with a friend, would probably relish it.

I want a B in a B now.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 14/06/2012 17:31

Does anyone know if it's possible to buy naice franfurters, so I can make my own, a la Fio?

ExitPursuedByABear · 14/06/2012 17:31

Sounds like a mighty fine idea, but I couldn't see DD letting me get away with it - but I could never afford business class anyway.

What Hully - are you really suggesting I venture into a Wimpy, in Margate? The very idea!

In the Guardian piece it explains a Bender in a Bun, but does mention that the Frankfurter is deep fried before being placed in a bun. Scary.

Whatmeworry · 14/06/2012 17:32

Hundreds of posts from people declaring that they would never consider travelling Business Class, unless all their children could too. And, their superior devotion and love for their children was clearly demonstrated by the fact they genuinely revelled in every, waking moment they spent travelling by bus, with 5 kids under the age of 7, en route to their Pontins camp site, in West Wales...

Ooo, now that comment will be a good for a Moral indignation Home Run :o
