just got a bit of a back lash in the office as I said that its not music its just noise! hee hee. Is that a sign of age!?

Radio2 in the car, Kerrang in the house (I'm 24).

Scrambled, it's depressing how cack Xfm is now!
I spent the latter parts of my teens listening to LBC/talk radio...now that's old lady!

Even DS (13) won't listen to radio 1. He prefers 6music too. Though even I have to admit that some of that can be a bit like unlistenable noise too sometimes.

I hate radio 1 too (although I am 43)
Radio 2 is boring though.

Does anyone else like BBC 6 music? I have it on all the time.

I love Chris Moyles and listen to his show faithfully.

I like Sara Cox's presenting ? she's very funny, self-deprecating and warm ? but can't listen that much as she plays quite a lot of music, and it's shite music.

Other than that I'm not a fan. Zane Lowe seems like a nice chap but his show is a bit SHOUTY

I'm a 6 Music girl, with forays to Radio 4 for Front Row, Woman's Hour, Cabin Pressure and any obscure documentaries that catch my ear and I have a strange fondness for Gardeners Question Time

I hate radio 1 and I'm 29 DP loves it and he's 40

Can't beat a bit of 5Live as long as Nicky Campbell isn't presenting.

For music its definitely either Star or Heart but the presenters are shocking.

Radio 2 is blech, 1 is just IQ-droppingly bad.

Most teenagers around here listen to local radio, not Radio 1. We listened too it the other day in the car, and it seemed very cliquey, not about the music youngsters I know listen to.

It honestly was good, back in the day

I grew up on radio 1, but mainly John Peel, and I'm sure he'd be on 6 these days.

But I'm alos pretty sure that, judging by how DS listens to music, video - in the form of youtube - has finally killed the radio star... Also soundcloud/spotify etc.

chickens, it's a matter of taste, but on 6 Music I love Lauren Laverne and Radcliffe and Maconie. Weekday daytime shows like this are quite playlist-heavy, but of course they have a better playlist than Radio 1 so that's fine by me.

Evenings and weekends are more esoteric ?Stuart Maconie's Freak Zone is particularly, ah, challenging. Cerys Matthews is good on a Sunday morning ? not a natural broadcaster but she plays a terrific range of music. But of course you need to listen to lots of different shows and find your own favourites.

I've always hated it. Especially I hated it as a teen! I am 28 and have been obsessed with Radio 4 since I was about 12.

Daytime radio one is and always has been cack.

There was a wonderful period in the mid 90s, just after they'd got rid of the smashie and nicey DJs where the evening schedule had the evening session (before Jo Wiley became a champion arse licker) Collins and Maconie and then Mark & Lard's graveyard shift. All in the same evening, one after the other. Mark & Lard's show in particular introduced me to so many great films, books, records and poems, that I retain a huge debt of gratitude.

I used to like R1 up until the point where they stopped the roadshows. I switched to R2 and love it. A good mix of oldies and new stuff. I did some temping last year and they had R1 on in the office. They played the same stuff every day. There were some songs that were played at least 3 times a day. Give me some variety any day. I'm 30 btw.

I just remembered something. I used to work with someone who loves R1, she was utterly convinced that it has the most listeners which is why it is called R1. She just wouldn't accept that R2 got more listeners and that R1 would be called that for any other reason than having the most listeners. Heavens knows what she thought would happen if it lost popularity, would it change name? :o

I'm 29, and the other day I turned Radio 1 off in sheer disgust at the "noise"...it wasn't even music! I loved Radio 1 when I was a teen and when I was working up until about 2 years ago. I guess I'm old now - Gimme Jeremy Vine any day!

YABU! I love fearn! She introduces a lot of new lesser known bands and I seem to like them all but I do like all that type of music so I'm maybe the one that's U!

fern doesn't find any of those bands or make the play lists, she's not like lauren used to be
