At work today I said something re: the torch relay and she was blank hadn't a clue, I googled it to show her and she had no idea (She is 24 and we both work in a secondary school) & had thought I was making it up
"But who runs with it.... Can Anybody...Can I?"
Or should I admire the way all the hype has bypassed her!?

Please tell me she's not a teacher or a TA?

SecretNutellaFix · 11/06/2012 20:43

How? It's been on the news for weeks, town centres have been closed off.

Is she a hermit or does she have a very self encompassing view of things generally?

Mrschristiangray · 11/06/2012 20:43

Sorry.... Can't!!
FWIW I checked re: the jubilee and that hadn't gone unnoticed!

It is amazing how some people can be totally oblivious to current affairs. I bet she knows who won "the Voice" though :o

Makes you wonder doesn't it? I took an English lesson the other week. Bunch of reasonably bright yr10's. Their task was to write a letter of application to join the Olympic volunteer team.

One girl asked me where the Olympics were this year. When I had a laugh with her that she didn't know, her friend then piped up, 'is it this year then?'

Worst bit? We live in a London Borough, we are due to have the torch overnight in July and the bloody school is over run with the Sports department doing cross curricular activities on the Olympics!

Mrschristiangray · 11/06/2012 20:45

But that's what I don't get - fair enough if you don't watch the news (?) but it has been everywhere hasn't it?

I only have a vague idea of what it entailed to be honest, it is of no interest to me.

Sallyingforth · 11/06/2012 20:59

I wish I'd never heard of the bloody thing.

The French must be pissing themselves that we got the Olympics instead of them.
