To hesitate to announce good news to my friend?

I have just called a close friend of mine to announce that I am expecting a baby, but she told me that she has very recently been diagnosed with cancer. So I didn't tell her anything tonight, just tried to support her as much as possible (anyway, we didn't talk for a long time, as she wasn't feeling well). Am I being unreasonable not to tell anything?

I think it was very thoughtful of you to allow her to tell you her news and to hold yours back. I think, if she is a good friend, she will know that you want to share your good news with her. Wait a day or two and then phone again as if you have just found out. Don't let her hear it from anyone else before you tell her. Congratulations

congradulation on the pregnancy, and sorry your friend is not well.

TBH i would tell her what you would of told her if the cancer wasn't there, she will need something positive to look forward to ( however i don't know our friend and could be barking up the wrong tree)
