to not expect lots of work dumped on me the day before I go on holiday?

I love my job. I really do. Over the past few days though people have been sending me lots of work to be doing that they are perfectly capable of doing themselves. I normally don't mind this as I work quickly and efficiently and things get done without fuss. However I am now quite stressed as I go on holiday tomorrow for a fortnight and my workload will not get finished in time. AIBU to expect that people should be thoughtful enough not to send me lots of work the day before I fly?

YABU expecting other people to be "thoughtful". Just say no and hand their own work back to them. Problem solved.

Well, YANBU, but YABU if you just sort of accept the extra work and get annoyed about it. Can you not just say...'sorry I'm stacked today and probably won't get to it, and I'm on hols for the next 2 weeks'.

If it is work that you would normally do, they are NBU. If it is work that you sometimes do to help out but that it really is theirs to do, they ARE BU and you need to tell them that you cannot do their work too as you have your own to finish.

YANBU, hand it back and say you need to clear your work otherwise they'll be having to do it in your absence.

Depends on the deadlines for the work, really. If it's work you can't actually do before holiday and they need it completed before you return (or within a day or so of your return) then I'd send it back saying you can't do it in time. If it's stuff that other people ought to be doing themselves anyway, then I don't understand why they are suddently sending it to you this week? In any case, I would position it that you will be unable to do it, so they would be better off finding another way to get it done, or move the deadline.
