I almost can't bring myself to tell you what he's done.

Olim fuit puella cui nomen Sophiae, et cum matre in culina cenabat. Subito ad portam tinnitum est. Mater Sophiae dixit: Miror, quis sit. Lactifer non potest esse, cum mane iam venerit.

no, no, I've got to stop this, I do have some kind of semblance of life

Mus ambulabat per lucum obscurum
Vulpis murem videns se dixit esurum

No, I am going to bed.

MoonlightandRoses · 06/06/2012 23:26

Sophie, or wisdom and what did her DM say?

Grin
MoonlightandRoses · 06/06/2012 23:26

Oh blast, that should have had ' ' for 'Sophie' and 'wisdom'

[Hangs head in shame]

ComposHat · 06/06/2012 23:32

Poncetastic

Surely that is Poncetastique? non?

My bouche is well and truly amused.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 06/06/2012 23:40

vous êtes déraisonnable

emdelafield · 06/06/2012 23:42

non- vous etes raisonable- quittez le batard!

MoonlightandRoses · 07/06/2012 00:27

mais emde, que penser des enfants, ne sera pas personne pensez aux enfants!

[Hopes desperately school French isn't too noticeable]

Sookeh · 07/06/2012 00:34

Arf at "Throw a vtech in and show him how to press the buttons"

DP is stroppy because my cackling woke him up Grin

MammaTJ · 07/06/2012 00:35

Could you maybe get him to help more around the house. More toilet cleaning, or if you have to, offer him more sex, then he would do such things again!! Good luck! Wink

MammaTJ · 07/06/2012 00:35

wouldn't*

Poulay · 07/06/2012 01:55

leave the bastard

sagenod · 07/06/2012 02:19

Pre-DC, and studying abroad I bought a rare copy of Le Petit Prince in Tunisian dialect Arabic and French. Tried to get my PFB into it last year (poncetastic parenting attempt N°52478) and failed spectacularly-he did scribble on it though...

If it ain't Ben 10 or Toy Story related it ain't worth reading in this house!

Iteotwawki · 07/06/2012 04:00

For your DH

Have you seen "Mots d'heures gousses rames"?

Fab book :)

Northernlurker · 07/06/2012 07:42
Grin

Dh's translation was right anyway.

Now tempted by an English/French version of 'We're going on a Bear Hunt'.

See - you start off with a Fruit Shoot in your hand and this is where you end up..............

Oh bloody hell Cory, I found I recognised that immediately.

That'll be, um, 15 years since I read the book and 35 a bit more since I did latin at school!

Lancelottie · 07/06/2012 07:51

Oooh, love the Gruffalo one too!

Northernlurker · 07/06/2012 07:53

I did too Lancelottie - and found myself admiring the phrasing.

comedycentral · 07/06/2012 08:14

Haha loved this and I like a little drip feeding! Ignore the sarky and narky mares on the thread!

Psammead · 07/06/2012 08:26

^ Last night's bedtime story. Does German qualify as poncetastic?

StepOutOfSpring · 07/06/2012 08:27

YABU. It's a good idea! Wish I'd learned a language when I was very young, might have got the hang of it then!

Tanith · 07/06/2012 08:39

My DS had one of those DK board books all about cars that he loved as a toddler.
I used to read it to him and he enjoyed finding the red car, and the blue car etc. etc.

I overheard Daddy reading it to him once:

"That's a Lambourghini XYZ with 8473 horsepower. 0-1000 in 4 nanoseconds! Just look at that streamlined body!"

Or something like that - you can tell I know nothing about cars Grin

BellaBearisWideAwake · 07/06/2012 08:59

I adore M'ots d'Heures: Gousses, Rames.
Absolute genius. There was a thread a while ago on it. Un petit d'un petit ....

MadameOvary · 07/06/2012 09:00

No idea whether your DH is poncetastic or not, am too busy boggling at the bad tempered posters no sense of humour.

BellaBearisWideAwake · 07/06/2012 09:00

Tanith: Grin Grin that sounds so familiar!

festivalwidow · 07/06/2012 09:44

Psammead that's marvellous!

I do translate into French or German if bored..
"Le petit tigre etait tres mechant et ne voulait jamais aller dormir.
'Je ne veux pas aller dormir!' cria le petit tigre.
Chaque soir, sa maman essaya de laver sa visage et ses pattes, mais le petit tigre cria: 'Je ne veux pas aller dormir!'"
.. unfortunately, still boring in French.

'Die kleine Raupe nimmersatt' is pretty good though.
