bejeezusWC · 06/06/2012 13:05

I bought 'Bed Head' 'Dumb Blonde' Hmm shampoo and conditioner and leave in conditioner, after discussing my hair type with the shop assistant, I spent £32- THIRTY TWO POUNDS!!!!!! Shock

It is rank- its really greasy and wont wash out properly. I have now looked at on-line reviews and this is a common complaint

I expect a refund, but am expecting shop to say they wont give me one as shampoo and conditioner have been opened and used....and it isnt their fault it doesnt suit my hair type

what do you think?

Someone gave me 900ml bottle of Matrix Biolage.

Very gentle, it was. Didn't put dent in the grease, mind.

lurkerspeaks · 07/06/2012 08:28

I have scalp psoriasis which flairs when I"m stressed.

t-gel usually gets it under control if the philip kingsley itch flaky scalp stuff fails.

CrunchyFrog · 07/06/2012 09:17

I use a shampoo bar from Lush. Don't need conditioner with it, it's fab, no frizz. £4.95 a pop, I use it daily and it lasts about 3 months.

Take the other stuff back, I took skin stuff back to Clinique because it gave me hives (very few things don't tbh, but I did tell the sales girl that when I bought it!) and got a credit note for the full price. Grin

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 07/06/2012 10:27

joico all the way for me, expensive but great

bejeezusWC · 07/06/2012 10:38

Thank you all!
I feel a bit overwhelmed with shampoo advice Grin

Am going to try to get to the shop this afternoon, and see if they will refund. If they will only exchange, I suppose it depends what else they have in the salon. I usually buy L'Oreal summat for coloured hair from them- which has been great for years-but frizz is fighting through at the moment

I have noticed they have Redken and Kerastase, which people here have recommended. Ive used them both a long long time ago and liked them.

Will also be going to Poundland to purchase some Gliss happy

Although my hairdresser has advised me that a good shampoo is more important than a good conditioner, for my hair. And it is noticeable

I also like using organic/natural shampoos with no SLS's- they are really nice and my dds have afro hair, it is really nice for them--but to get that I have to travel to a part of town I rarely go to for any other purpose

Cor....dilemmas dilemmas huh! Grin

I was fiven some conditioning treatment for blonde hair for my birthday from Lush (forget the name) It is lovely

Redken is good.
If you're going to Lush, ask for a sample of their sea salt shampoo. It's fab!

WhiteWidow · 07/06/2012 10:44

Do those lush shampoo bars work then? I'm dying to try them.

Someone suggested Rockaholic, I love the range but if bed head greases your hair that might do the same.

DinahMoHum · 07/06/2012 10:50

I would take it back,
Be nice, be polite, throw in phrases about how you discussed it at length to find the best one for your hair type and was recommended this particular one and it has made your hair in terrible condition. I would ask if you can swap it for a different one

Latara · 07/06/2012 10:56

bejeezus - KMS shampoo is designed for afro hair (i think) but i've got the celtic kind of frizzy / curly hair (thanks Scottish g-grandad!!!).

I remember using it age 17 after i was really ill & my hair had suffered - it went especially frizzy & dry.
I was worried that my hair would be too fine for KMS, but it was actually very good & my hair recovered well.
I'm considering trying it again now, because my hair is so brittle.

TheMonster · 07/06/2012 11:01

Lush shampoo bars do work, and they last for ages.

WhiteWidow · 07/06/2012 11:15

I'll have to try some then. I love walking into the lush store. It was ace a Christmas were they we're making stuff in front of us and letting us make our own

valiumredhead · 07/06/2012 12:53

Limited you need L'Oreal Elviv anti dandruff - dark but bottle with orange lid - it's in Boots. Wonderful stuff - give it a week and your scalp will be transformed.

limitedperiodonly · 07/06/2012 13:12

Thanks valium. I'll go out today.

valiumredhead · 07/06/2012 13:15

There is a light blue bottle which is also anti dandruff, not tried that but if it is half as good as the dark blue one I'd be happy!

I could, and have, blow dried my hair wearing a black top and not had a single flake! Had a crappy itchy scalp all my life, and this is magic stuff. I buy in bulk when it's 2 for 1. Hope it works as well for you.

kelly2525 · 07/06/2012 13:15

Another huge kerastase fan here, especially their aqua oleum.

bejeezusWC · 07/06/2012 13:26

limited I get an itchy scalp sometimesand if I blow dry my hair everyday for a while it gets rid of itdo you normally let your hair dry naturally?

Also coal tar shampoo for a week or so helps me (the smell is not to everyones liking though!)

OP posts:
bejeezusWC · 07/06/2012 17:31

They exchanged it! They said they would only refund if I had had a reaction- fair enuf

I got confused. I meant to but Kerastase, I bought Redken-will see how it goes Smile

Hurrah bejeezus but they are cheeky bastards. What are they - dermatologists?

Next time go in at a busy time and empty a bag of scabs cornflakes from your scalp on the counter.

WhiteWidow · 07/06/2012 17:42

How are they cheeky bastards? Theyre entitled to have a policy like that. If the goods aren't faulty or causing damage they don't have to give anything.

In all fairness they didn't even need to exchange it.

limitedperiodonly · 07/06/2012 17:55

whitewidow Because it didn't do the job of a shampoo, which is to get your hair clean.

Plus, in these competitive times, a bit of goodwill goes a very long way. And I speak as the wife of a retailer.

WhiteWidow · 07/06/2012 18:40

Correction, it didn't do the job for the OP. just because the product didn't work for her doesn't make it faulty, so they're not 'cheeky bastards' :)

bejeezusWC · 07/06/2012 18:47

I'm a bit torn to be honest. It was so awful, that I felt it went beyond just 'not being suitable for my hair'. It was like I had rubbed vaseline into my hair-i could barely get a comb through it. It was really REALLY awful

But the girl in the shop said it was really popular so Confused

It was definitely poor quality-note to not by trendy young products again

OP posts:
limitedperiodonly · 07/06/2012 18:52

Did she also say: 'Nobody else has ever complained'?

Good luck with the Redken but if it doesn't do what it says on the tin complain Grin

lifesalongsong · 07/06/2012 19:51

Good result, well done for standing firm.
