to take skanky over priced shampoo back to the shop and expect a refund?

bejeezusWC · 06/06/2012 13:05

I bought 'Bed Head' 'Dumb Blonde' Hmm shampoo and conditioner and leave in conditioner, after discussing my hair type with the shop assistant, I spent £32- THIRTY TWO POUNDS!!!!!! Shock

It is rank- its really greasy and wont wash out properly. I have now looked at on-line reviews and this is a common complaint

I expect a refund, but am expecting shop to say they wont give me one as shampoo and conditioner have been opened and used....and it isnt their fault it doesnt suit my hair type

what do you think?

Lynette i used to get mine from TKMaxx too, or before it shut down TJ hughes used to do salon sized versions for £17.00, which would last me, about a year. Amazing.

But the products i love from bed head are: Spoil me & the dumb blonde smoothing stuff.

thatisall · 06/06/2012 21:40

I miss TJ Hughes so so much Sad

ladymariner · 06/06/2012 21:52

I like the Aussie stuff, and the Elvive one with the royal jelly in it. However, bargain of the century, when I was in Aldi's the other day I thought I'd try their version of Pantene, it was only 75p a bottle and my reasoning was that if it was crap I'd use it as shaving gel......it's bloody marvellous!!!!! My hair is extremely thick and naturally curly (thank god for ghd's!) and it makes it lovely and soft and shiny....I went back and bought a stack of it!

growingbytheday · 06/06/2012 22:01

ahh 'ginger minge'
the reason i wax everything i can reach-oh how fondly i recall the girlish laughter in the showers at school and the ringing chorus of
'giz a feel of yer minge ginge'....cept it's grey now

Latara · 06/06/2012 22:47

A lot of my hair fell out due to meds & has grown back thicker; very curly; greying (therefore brittle & dry) & has to be coloured (but have to avoid the bleach blonde highlights). It's collar-length & i'm hoping to grow it long. Tbh i'm a bit precious about it as i'm terrified it will fall out again.
So i understand why it's tempting to splash the cash on hair products.
I recommend: Redken Protein shampoo (blue bottle) - use for 2 weeks then swap for Redken All Soft shampoo for 2 weeks.
I like an Aussie moisturising conditioner left on for 5 mins before rinsing.
Then i comb through lots of Tresemme Argonoil spray & V05 leave-in conditioner spray & usually leave my hair to dry naturally (scared of damaging the new hair with GHDs & hairdryers).
The only styling products i use are label m. Shine Spray (from Toni & Guy); & Charles Worthington Smoothing Creme.
I need to make time for deep conditioning treatments too; so will be experimenting to find the most suitable one.

What you eat matters too - no point buying expensive hair products if you eat rubbish. I recommend Almonds, oily fish, iron-rich food - i was anaemic so i take prescribed Ferrous Sulphate tablets.

I hope you have managed to return the hair products; definitely worth trying to do that.

Bed Head' 'Dumb Blonde'

Ain't that the truth! They say you coming when they stung you for £32 quid.

and it isnt their fault it doesnt suit my hair type

It is the equivilent of ordering an expensive meal and then trying to send it back when you don't like the taste of it.

Chalk it up to experience I'm afraid.

Charlotte1234 · 06/06/2012 22:59

Take it back! I've taken some Benefit make up back to Boots before when I explained it didn't do what I expected it to.

Re the price, don't feel bad about spending all that cash - it's your money! If I could only afford one pricey product though I'd go for a cheaper shampoo (really cheap) and spend a wee bit more on the conditioner.

Good luck! Smile

limitedperiodonly · 06/06/2012 23:06

Take it back. It was £32!!!!

I spent about £80 on various Bobbie Brown eyeshadows and pencils before weeks later i realised they were bringing my skin up.

They apologised and refunded the lot. Any reputable company would be happy to do that to keep your good will and prevent you bitching about them.

So, Bobbie Brown are great, it's just my feeble eyelids Grin

Read the first and last page so sorry if it's been resolved.

weaselbudge · 06/06/2012 23:07

This happened to my Mum! And then she gave all 3 products to me .. and I find them ok but nothing special- tbh I use them because they were free. I would take them back and if they won't refund then ask for a goodwill gesture like some free samples or at least one bottle of another product or a hair dressing voucher ..
composat - once my husband did order an expensive meal which wasn't very nice and asked for 10% off the bill and restaurant fine with this (if he had sent it back we would have had to wait ages for replacement dish).

ComposHat · 06/06/2012 23:09

once my husband did order an expensive meal which wasn't very nice and asked for 10% off the bill and restaurant fine with this (if he had sent it back we would have had to wait ages for replacement dish)

But that's a dish being badly cooked/prepared, rather than just not liking the taste of it?

PoohBearsHole · 06/06/2012 23:11

Kerastase for me all the way, never had an issue, pricey YES BUT bear with me Grin for me a bottle of shampoo and conditioner last me 3 months, and I wash my hair 6 out of 7 days at least and it leaves it lovely and bouncy and controllable. I changed to bog standard and boy could I tell and it lasted all of 5 minutes too.

OP I would take it back if I was you. It's worth a try at any rate.

NettoSuperstar I have some of the Percy & Reed Finishing Polish, and I think Conditioning Treatment (I can't check right now as I'm bed bound recovering from the dreaded lurgy) PM me if you want it. The Percy & Reed I mean, not the lurgy Grin

limitedperiodonly · 06/06/2012 23:21

Is this turning into a requests thread?

In that case my hair is becoming increasingly greasy with alarmingly large flakes of dandruff

Elvive Nutri-Gloss for Mid to Long Dull Hair (it hurts to admit that I'm dull) used to work, but no more.

Nizoral blitzes the occasional dandruff outbreak but I'm scared tHAt I'm getting immune.

Can anyone help?

Please. I'd like to wear dark clothes again Grin

limitedperiodonly · 06/06/2012 23:25

PS Aussie Mega shampoo made my head itch so much I tore it to bits. I've saved it for washing tights and killing ants.

lydiamama · 06/06/2012 23:32

Take it back and explain what happened to your hair when you used it. I think they will refund you.

lurkerspeaks · 06/06/2012 23:44

If we are talking expensive shampoo I can thoroughly recommend Philip Kingsley products. I've used lots over the years and not been disappointed.

I also like the KMS clarifying range (gets rid of product build up, or Chlorine / limescale in my case).

Recently got persuaded to buy Purology - for a vegan haircare line it leaves my hair feeling like it is full of yuck. Won't be buying it again.

lurkerspeaks · 06/06/2012 23:45

Oh and once you get into salon products the cheapest way to buy them is salon sizes. I get 1000ml of product for just over the price of two 250ml bottles.

I then decant into my gym/ travel bottles and use the big dispensers at home.

My salon orders them in for me.

SchrodingersMew · 06/06/2012 23:52

The "Foxy Curls" one is amazing and smells like toffee. :o

Maybe try the "Rockaholic" range? It's a fair bit cheaper and they sell an amazing shampoo bar. :)

Winterdyke · 07/06/2012 00:01

Yes, limited I'll swap you my lurgy for your dandruff Grin

I've heard that Phillip Kingsley Hair Tonic works well.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 07/06/2012 00:05

I'm sure the shop will refund you. Especially if it's busy when you return the stuff... Wink

I am a 'candyfloss head' sufferer myself; I swear by Matrix Biolage; it's not in supermarkets but there's a large auction site that has sellers of it. It's great for my hair and my sensitive skin.

Springforward · 07/06/2012 00:08

I dis this at a hairdresser's once, they exchanged it for something else.

limitedperiodonly · 07/06/2012 00:09

My mum swears by getting tonic from the doctor winterdyke.

I am old. She is older. Obviously.

happybubblebrain · 07/06/2012 00:11

Take it back, get your £32, go to Poundland and buy 32 bottles of Schwarzkopf Gliss Asia Straight Conditioner (the purple one). It's the best conditioner I've ever tried, better than Kerastase (my second favourite). And it conditions better than any leave-in I've ever used. I don't work for them BTW.
