AIBU to be completely panicking as to what to wear tomorrow?!?!

Tomorrow is the first New Parents' Meeting at my son's school.

He's my PFB. This is his first proper school. It is pre-school but he will probably stay there through P-whatever the hell it is in Northern Ireland. (I should probably find that out...)

Anyway, what do I wear? It's at 2pm, I'll be working from home before hand and walking over for the meeting. It is likely to be raining.

:: hyperventilating::

I've read about the school gate fashion police here on MN.

What do I do?!?!?!

Clothes would be a good start.

Is it really that bad these days?

Trills · 05/06/2012 18:28

YABU to panic. There is no need to panic. Go ask the nice ladies in Style and Beauty and they will help you figure out what to wear Wink

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 05/06/2012 18:30

Clean clothes with no swear words printed on them. Nothing else matters although, let's face it, a shell suit, ankle socks with lace trim and 3 inch court shoes isn't going to be a good look... oh and it might be a bit chilly for a string vest Grin

YouGoonie · 05/06/2012 18:31

I understand that jeans and a 'nice' top is a good way to go ;-)
Trills advice is very good!

YouGoonie · 05/06/2012 18:40

I can't view the link on my phone. I'm guessing scarf and sunglasses?

LadyTeeAndBiscuits · 05/06/2012 18:58

You are very good, YouGoonie!

Jeans and a nice tshirt I can do.

LadyTeeAndBiscuits · 05/06/2012 19:19

But what if I choose the wrong tshirt? Am I subjecting my son, my only child, my PFB to a lifetime of no party invites and no friends around to tea?

Really? Don't buy into the school gate style shite. Wear clean clothes, what you normally wear.

It's pre-school, then P1 through to P7.

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 05/06/2012 19:29

Jeans, nice shirt or t-shirt. Nice shoes - flats are fine, just not scuffed old trainers :)

Don't stress - even at private schools you get a real mix of parents!

The worst thing you can do is 'over dress' for the occasion & look like a real 'try hard' Grin

LadyTeeAndBiscuits · 05/06/2012 20:02

Oh gosh now I have to worry about going the other way.

I have already done this to DD. We went to her pre-school's open day and she was the only girl wearing anything other than a skirt or dress. She was in a nice shirt and dungarees but I have made her an outcast.

LadyTeeAndBiscuits · 05/06/2012 20:17

Oh gosh he has open day next week. I hope he doesn't need to wear his uniform as I haven't bought his trousers yet as I'm sure he'll grow before the end of the summer!

LadyTee you must have some magical power as no one has said YABU yet :o

LadyTeeAndBiscuits · 05/06/2012 20:30

MINE! MINE! Grin

Goonie, are you a namechanger? You seem familiar....

OP posts:
YouGoonie · 05/06/2012 20:34

I have namechanged but I was used to lurk not post because I might have been a little too scared :)

RobinSparkles · 05/06/2012 20:34

Trills said YABU, first post up there ^ ! :o

Don't worry lady. I don't think people will pay much attention, they'll all be worrying about themselves!

LadyTeeAndBiscuits · 05/06/2012 20:36

So she did, Robin. So much for my power. ::pout::

Scared? Of us? We ain't scary! Grin

YouGoonie · 05/06/2012 20:46

Trills didn't mean it though! Did she Wink
I think I spent too much time lurking in AIBU and sometimes the answers can be very honest!

TeeAndBiscuits · 06/06/2012 11:50

In case anyone is wondering, I'm wearing my dark carmel jeans and a short sleeved jumper/pull over thing. I will wear my boots with it as it is raining today, which is not surprising as I live in Belfast.

WipsGlitter · 06/06/2012 12:03

I'm in Belfast too. It's cold - heat on earlier!!

TeeAndBiscuits · 06/06/2012 16:31

Didn't matter what I wore. It was bucketing and I got soaked!

Enragia · 06/06/2012 16:32

weirdo

TeeAndBiscuits · 06/06/2012 16:43

Who me? Yes. I am.

FunnyLovesTheJubilee · 06/06/2012 17:01

Enragia called me a freak earlier
