Hmm at krumbrum.
I tend to find people who make sweeping generalisations to be a bit thick TBH.
Each to their own!

*won't personally be going to any of the Olympic events but DH and DS have spent a lot of money on got tickets and I am very happy for them both (and equally happy to have peace and quiet at home Grin).

Is it a peculiarly (sp?) mumsnet thing to be totally uninterested in these sorts of events - I almost wonder if some of you like to be so 'superior' and assume it is 'uncool' to be excited by such things Grin.

The vast majority of people I mix with (except for one very 'alternative' friend) thoroughly enjoy this sort of event. Roll on our street party - starting in a few hours Smile.

It's weird, isn't it Ragworth? I am not fussed by either celebration, but not sure why people are think liking it is an indication of being thick or a sheep or something.

I live very near the Olympic stadium and I guess the transport thing will be an issue but I'm not sure why people have to be on such a downer about it.

A Greek guy I know said it was the same when it was in Athens, I guess people moan everywhere.

Agree with ripsishere but would add closing ceremony. I like fireworks. Grin

Ooohh, now I am a fireworks floozy Darts Again and would celebrate the dissolution of the monarchy or a good Jubilee for a cracking Firework display

Feel more passionately against Olympics as keep hearing about how much money everything is costing... yet the general theme with the government is cuts, cuts and more cuts... and they are cutting things we actually NEED.
