AIBU to think our neighbour is an arse?

We put a union flag up in the window yesterday to celebrate the Jubilee. Today I bumped into our neighbour where we had the following conversation...

Him: I don't like your flag.
Me: Oh. Sorry. It's just up for the Jubilee so it'll come down in a few days.
Him: People will think this is a BNP street.
Me: I'm sure they won't, everyone knows it's Jubilee weekend...
Him: Well I think it makes you look like BNP supporters. It's disgraceful. I don't want to look at it.

He's made me a little bit worried now that people will think that! AIBU to leave the flag up and think he's being a bit of an arse?

He's being an arse :) I'm sure there aren't lots of new BNP supporters around but there are loads of flags. I like to see it. I would get. Then for your carand everything though now.

There are Union Flags everywhere....on houses, cars, pubs, restaurants, shops and people.

No, because he is an arse. It's the jubiliee weekend; loads of people, who wouldn't normally, have flags out.

He is being ridiculous. I got hubby. Flagpole and he has the England flag flying most of the time but today we changed it to the union flag in honour of the jubilee. It's about time normal, non racist people took back the right to fly the flag whenever we want and not let the bigoted rackets take it over.

I really hate this attitude. It's not too far away from the morons who think anyone in traditional muslim dress is a potential terrorist. The BNP are a very small minority. If more people displayed the flag for the positive reasons they have been over the Jubilee all the time the negative connotations would fall away.

Any other weekend I'd be agreeing with him, but its the jubilee! A lot of (not racist) people have union flags out.
