to think that Steve Backshall doesn't really give a dam about kids

My DC are massive Deadly Sixty fans, booked tickets on the announcement day for the Steve Backshall Tour and got front row seats. The date has been on the calendar for months.

But got an email today saying they have cancelled the performance as not enough people bought tickets. There is another performance that day, but we can?t change. DCs are devastated.

The venue is Warwick Arts Centre and it will be open for other things anyway. The stage will need to be set and taken down for the other performance that day. In other words, I can?t see that they would make a huge loss by going ahead.

AIBU to be pissed off that profits always come first.

Profits will always come first I'm afraid

YABU though to think SB doesn't give a damn about kids, seeing as though non of it will be down to him.

Mrsjay · 01/06/2012 18:41

this isnt the presenters fault though this is the organisers and they need bums on seats YANBU to be annoyed though and perhaps the centre has to have a certain amount of people , cant you manage to go the earlier one ?

IAmSherlocked · 01/06/2012 18:43

YANBU to be disappointed but the decision won't have been made by Steve Backshall. Mind you, I never expected him to care about children as such - it seems clear watching his stuff that animals are his obsession: he just happens to be good at communicating that enthusiasm to children, but I don't think he set out to be a children's presenter because he loves children.

creamteas · 01/06/2012 18:56

Even if he didn't suggest it, Steve will have to know about the decision and supported it so I still think he is responsible. I used to work at a different were events went ahead despite not much of an audience, because the artist(s) have refused to let their fans down.

The other performance is completely impossible as I will be at work. I can't get time off and I did ask GP if they could come for weekend and help, but they are busy.

but he doesnt organise the production does he he just presents it , even if he did say anything he can't do anything about it , I think you should complain to the arts centre. The presenter isn't really at fault ,

ComposHat · 01/06/2012 19:59

Sorry, what's a dead 60?

ComposHat · 01/06/2012 20:00

An emo band? At a guess.

LynetteScavo · 01/06/2012 20:02

Steve Backshaw is at Warwick Arts Center and I didn't know about it? Confused Angry Sad

  1. I fancy love Steve Backshaw.

  2. I get emails from WAC on their up comming events. I did not know about this. Angry

No wonder they are cancelling performances if they are not letting anyone know about it.

But it's not Steve's fault. It is the promoters, or whoever. It won't be Steve's decision to cancel a show. So YABVVVVVU. If you loved Steve like I do you would take the day of work.

Did I mention I fancy lurve him?

LynetteScavo · 01/06/2012 20:03

When he goes looking for sharks are my favourite episodes. He takes his shirt off.

Did I mention I fancy love Steve?

bunnybabylon · 01/06/2012 20:05

i remember watching it on telly a few weeks back and they mentioned they had to cancel another event, will google

bunnybabylon · 01/06/2012 20:06

\link{http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-15409942\here} seems that they aren't that good at planning!!

Moln · 01/06/2012 20:06

He'd have had nothing to do with it at all - I'm sure if he even did say it shouldn't it's doubtful he'd have been listen to.

I will not have Steve bad mouthed (I also fancy love Steve)

Moln · 01/06/2012 20:08

Lynette have you seen the Tuna one?

Llareggub · 01/06/2012 20:08

Gutted! We would have gone had we known about it. Never heard a whisper about it locally.

LynetteScavo · 01/06/2012 20:17

Moln. I have no idea if I've seen the Tuna one. I don't really pay much attention to the animals.

TidyDancer · 01/06/2012 20:18

This is not his fault, and he is not responsible.

YABU.

Moln · 01/06/2012 20:19

He loses his swimming trunks in it

AmazingBouncingCorgi · 01/06/2012 20:21

Which is the one where he loses his shorts?

Grin
UnRoyalCharter · 01/06/2012 20:21

he'll not know anything about it until his agent calls to say don't bother turning up, cancellations will be totally the responsibility of the venue

if they can't cover costs they're left with no option really

AmazingBouncingCorgi · 01/06/2012 20:21

Ah xpost it's the Tuna one!

MissMogwi · 01/06/2012 20:21

He took his shirt off to poke a snake thing in a pond once. At least I think it was a snake, it could have been a lion.

It's not my Steve's fault OP. AngryGrin

UnRoyalCharter · 01/06/2012 20:24

Grin a lion in a pond!

i like the one of him half naked wrestling a massive fish out of a river

Moln · 01/06/2012 20:26
