to think there shouldn't have been a Dominos Pizza stall at DD's Junior School Fete?

Fete was yesterday. We had all the normal things, singing, dancing, games, toy stall, treasure hunt, tea and coffees, etc.

Food on offer was a BBQ run by staff members, a homemade cake stall (including a Jubilee cake competition) and a whacking great Dominos Pizza stall selling 4 slices of pizza for £2. £1 of this was giving back to the school.

Considering the school promotes a healthy eating ethos and are quite strict about chocolate/fizzy drinks etc not being sent in in packed lunches, I was very surprised (and quite horrified) that junk food was being promoted and advertised in the school playground.

My friend laughed and said I was being a twat and eating slices of pizza was no different to eating a cake from the cake stall.

I want to email the head and express my disgust.

So AIBU?

I might suggest we do similar Hully, only with blue WKD. Will it matter that the summer fête is a few weeks after the jubilee? Have we missed the boat?

How about a naked Rick Astley slippery nipple luge?

mosschops30 · 01/06/2012 18:16

YABU it wasnt a cocaine stall fgs its just pizza. Whats the worst that could happen?

Although i think dominos sucks, we prefer pizza express.

And i think a greggs stall is a fab idea Grin

YANBU.

I can see how attractive it is to the PTA for fundraising, but if the school follows a healthy eating policy then Dominos should not have been invited.
It could be McD's, Kentucky, Haribo.. Ect if they think this is ok.
FWIW, I'm also a teacher ( who likes a cheeky Dominos every now and then!)

I would hate the hypocracy of enforcing healthy lunchboxes then cashing in when it suits them.

I know that he no longer owns them and that therefore no profits support his personal beliefs, but the politics of the founder has always put me off them.

OhNoMyFanjo · 01/06/2012 18:26

4 slices for £2? Can you let me know next time Grin

JamieOliveOil · 01/06/2012 18:30

YABU - it was a treat - everyone knows you don't eat healthy food at school fairs!

Seriously, I'd never heard of this before. Can anyone link to where I can find more info or let know how you can arrange this. I'm our PTA Chair currently organising our Summer Fair.

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 01/06/2012 18:32

Oh the irony! Are you getting a cut of all this extra business op?

olibeansmummy · 01/06/2012 18:52

YABU 4 slices for £2?! I'm there!

NarkedPuffin · 01/06/2012 19:15

Domino's is really shitty pizza too. They are so desperate around here that they've been offering ridiculous money off deals and we've still never used them. They are to pizza what Kraft slices are to cheese.

Whatmeworry · 01/06/2012 19:18

If it was a Middle Class fete it would have been Pizza Express....

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 01/06/2012 19:18

I don't use any they are all a rip off, I refuse to pay a tenner for what is just effectively a large bit of cheese on toast.

I'd have four slices for 2 pound though.

Pandemoniaa · 01/06/2012 19:21

I think it is a slippery slope. Dominos's is the crappest of pizza purveyors and none of these fast food outlets have any place wheedling their way into state schools. They don't do it for altruistic reasons you know.

Dozer · 01/06/2012 19:30

Yanbu, it's grim that dominos is doing this and offering such low prices: as pandemoniaa says they do it for self-serving reasons.

shockers · 01/06/2012 19:33

I ran a pimms stall at our school's autumn fair... I used the kitchen's salad bar on wheels to serve it from too (with bunting so's to make it seem wholesome). I did put shedloads of strawberries, orange, cucumber and mint in though. It went down very well... especially with those serving it... hic Grin
