I dunno. It seems like the current news is dominated by terrible things happening to children across the globe - Syria, 6 kids allegedly murdered by their own parents, drug smuggling parents in Bali leaving their 6 yr old with near strangers as they face firing squad, kids dying in Afghanistan from NATO bombing - the list is fucking endless. It's going on all the time, of course, under our noses, in lands thousands of miles away; every day some kid somewhere is suffering unimaginable horrors.
And here we are, on a site that is primarily about parenting and children and people are having a little bunfight about whether they shop at LIDL or Ocado.
Maybe I'm just having a glum day. But a little perspective wouldn't hurt. One of the things I have loved about Mumsnet over the years is how much good parenting information and general support there is on here. And how many smart, interesting women (mainly, obviously hello blokes on here too) make this such a great place. It seems a bit daft that we're just perpetuating this thoroughly British obsession with class and money. I think we're bigger than that and can leave that shit to the fuckwits posting on the Daily Heil comments section.
Right. Off to get some chocolate.
