Yes, I admit I am an old fogey but I use public transport a lot - to and from work and to travel around to home visits and, when I look around, sometimes literally everyone has earphones on and is tapping away on their phone. ipad etc or using their phone to have an inane conversation. It feels as though everyone under 30 has lost the ability to just sit and think or stare out of the window. My 12 year old DS literally goes into a blind panic if I say that I want him to do something that doesn't involve a screen and I'm increasingly finding myself saying things like "when I was your age, we didn't have computers, mobiles DVDs etc and we were perfectly happy". AIBU or just a complete luddite?

YABU

Don't mind at all on public transport, at least they have the option of using their time rather than sitting staring out the window. Maybe they are avoiding talking to weirdos on the bus...

I do however hate people that cannot hold a conversation without being distracted by a phone.

But my pet hate is when people say 'When I was your age...'

I would agree that you are a luddite if I knew what it meant

I am always amazed when I take DS to the empire juniors cinema on a weekend....all these excited kids and all you can see is the glow of mobile phones! Quite sad really!
