To think DH has more time to get shopping

My husband work 2pm till 10pm 8 hour shifts, once every 3 weeks. I work 7am till 2:30pm. We have 2 children one that is in full time school and 1 in afternoon nursery that starts at 12:30. I have no time to go home before the school run as nursery finishes at 3pm and i barly make it there on time

As he has the car I think he should do any shopping or get the electric, so why does he expect me to do it. This would involve me walking 2 tired children home which is 20 minutes to get the key and walk 20 minutes to the shop.

OP, could you get little bits from milk&more and have it delivered for when DH is on an afternoon shift?

trixie123 · 30/05/2012 16:37

why does everyone on mumsnet seem to think that internet shopping is the answer to every problem? It isn't, it just avoids an issue. The problem here is the OPs OH's attitude that for whatever reason he doesn't want to do the shopping.

nailak · 30/05/2012 16:44

it also asumes that everyone has debit cards which they dont.

WhiteWidow · 30/05/2012 19:54

AThingInYourLife - it IS an excuse. And a daft one at that. She only wants the basics, so a tenner would do? Not hard to carry a tenner around with you is it.

Anyway hopefully her partner will sort himself out and nip to the shops while she's at work so she won't have to make excuses or go herself.

AThingInYourLife · 30/05/2012 20:24

Who the fuck are you, her (incompetent middle manager) boss?

It's not an excuse, it's a reason.

She has explained why it is difficult for her to carry cash around, as have others.

But I suppose that's more more "excuses" to someone determined to belittle someone.

SharingIsNotCaring · 30/05/2012 20:28

thanks for the input, electric is sorted will leave for work earlier atm i leave at 5:45 but i suppose will leave 10 minutes early and if there is no milk in for breakfast for the kids then he can just go first thing in the morning and get it and then sort the kids out

Hmm no, did shop several times on comparison website and ocado worked out cheaper every time. Was £11.30 cheaper than adds last time!

forevergreek · 30/05/2012 20:48

*asda

WhiteWidow · 30/05/2012 21:30

No I'm someone who can see a blatantly obvious way around things and has said so. But people can find excuses for everything they don't want to do...

Right so she can POSSIBLY carry a note on her can she Hmm

Anyway it sounds like I'm being nasty to her, that isn't intended because what I'm saying is directed at you athing.

WhiteWidow · 30/05/2012 21:31

Can't*

Morloth · 30/05/2012 22:33

What is the thought process of a person who is at home, no kids and with a car that it makes sense to them that the person at work, with the kids, no car and no cash should do the shopping?

How does that make sense in anyone's head?

empirestateofmind · 31/05/2012 00:33

I have no idea Morloth- I can't imagine how anyone could be so lazy and thoughtless.

And why would the other person let them behave like that Sad.

AThingInYourLife · 31/05/2012 07:58

It sounded like you were being nasty to her before I was even on the thread.

Because you were. And are.

Accusing a grown woman of "making excuses" and "making a mountain out of a molehill" when she asks about something that is clearly a problem for her is being unkind and bossy.

WhiteWidow · 31/05/2012 11:02

I'm sure at first I was trying to make suggestions to her. But was met with silly excuses.

Oh boo hoo. I didn't know grown women were exempt from making excuses.
