I am narked.
Today was dress as any era from the queens rein. Fine, fair enough. Cheap to do.

Then we find out we Will be getting a letter today, or tomorrow, about fancy dress on Friday. Red, white and blue, take in £1 for the pleasure of doing so.

Why does there seem to be this obsession with fancy dress all the time. I'm 33 and sure as hell we weren't dressing up all the Time. Just casual dress days maybe twice a year for charity.

Aibu to be grumpy about this :)

Our school is obsessed with dressing up. Usually it is that they have to dress up in a certain colour, so if your child doesn't have clothes in that colour you have to ask around. I suppose it is easy for the teachers, but it is a pain for us! Once they had "Wear blue for bullying Day" but they didn't actually learn anything about bullying on the day. What is the point of that!

Yadddnbu. They get to me too, with dt's I have to come up with double every timeHmm

2 in one week though!Shock...poor you.

DD had to have a blue top for sports day (when they were infants they were given a tabard). She sorted through her clothes and made sure she had one.
Tomorrow is red/white/blue day but it was expected (Given it's the Jubilee Grin )

YANBU - either about the 2 dress up days in a week or the lack of notice.
DD has one dress up day this week, a red, white and blue day. DD has no red or blue clothes at all. She is far too pink and girly in her dress sense. So I had to go and buy something appropriate - well make it as DD decided she would like a flag dress. (It looks better than it sounds honest.)
We have to pay £1 for her to wear it and £1.85 for a picnic dinner - she normally takes a packed lunch, but has to pay for them to make it Hmm

This school is constantly wanting money for things, and it seems to have got worse since the new head arrived. I don't mind paying towards DDs education, and am an avid vouchers for school collector. I do mind the change of uniform scheduled for september. I also mind the constant money for her to go in special dress up clothes, which is about 2 or 3 times a term. Whatever happend to just mufti days where you can wear whatever you like from your drawers?

anniemcphee · 29/05/2012 10:05
  • re mufti days - I meant that then I would only have to pay the £1 for own clothes and not shell out for a costume, which tend to cost £5 - £15 a time (DD is not big on dressing up really).

sorry DS and I love it.

We always get enough notice and DS loves wearing dress ups or certain colours. I love it when its a certain theme too.

Sorry I love getting DS all ready its like he's my live doll. This week its 50's (woo hoo) and red white and blue. so easy to do in this house also I need a King costume in a couple of weeks but thats easy to do too Grin

I'm very happy to help those parents that hate it though especially if their children love it like mine Smile

We have free as pirates tomorrow and red white and blue on fri. Mufti day after half term. Unfotunately my son hates dressing up and will have a paddy, he's bad enough when I don't put his school jumper on coz it's too hot or want him to wear shorts instead of trousers and the hoohaa when the zip broke on his Thomas tank coat broke and I made him wear another one!!!!

Kellamity · 29/05/2012 11:41

We have red white and blue on Friday too! On my way home I saw some very regal school children going to another school, lovely! I think it's so much fun!!! Grin
