...then what's the point in me caring?"

Let me explain.

I was driving behind a car doing at least 35mph with two young children standing up between the seats and bouncing about. I got so angry and upset that the mother didn't give a shit. I was going to pull up next to her and explain that it was firstly illegal and secondly it was fucking DANGEROUS!

When I got next to the car, the little girl in the back looked at me with a nasty scowl on her face and stuck her tongue out at me in a rude nasty way, not a jokey way.

WIBU to think "oh why should I give a fuck when you don't give a monkeys and plus if your kids are that rude, then lord only knows how you're going to react. Fuck you all" ?

Well there are loads of tossers out there and sadly some of them are responsible for children who have a good chance of becoming the contemporary tossers of our children! Yet, perhaps we have a degree of responsibility as the mother is endangering innocent kids' lives. Maybe next time take the reg plate and call the police. I wouldn't confront anyone like that, however tempting it may be, she (and possibly the kids) would have been waiting for that opportunity no doubt.

alsteff · 28/05/2012 22:44

btw you obviously do care otherwise it wouldn't have wound you up! And caring is good, if we want to live in a civilised society!

McHappyPants2012 · 28/05/2012 22:44

If I was a passenger phoned the police and give them her registration number not slot I could do if I was driving as I would be braking the law

toofattorun · 28/05/2012 22:50

alsteff Good point - it really upset me that those poor little kids were standing in a speeding car with a mother who doesn't give a flying feck about them.

Would the police actually do anything?

Reg plate and call the police. For sure.

LaurieFairyCake · 28/05/2012 22:54

Well, after I'd had the very uncharitable thought 'natural selection in action' I'd stop being a cow and report the driver to the police Grin

alsteff · 28/05/2012 22:56

lol on the natural selection! Not sure whether the police would, depends where you live and how busy they are I guess. But other than following her home and slashing her tyres, that's all you probably can do!!

toofattorun · 28/05/2012 22:59

I know it sounds horrible, but the woman deserves a scare to make her realise she is a terrible parent and get her kids in a cat seat pronto.

I would have followed but she was heading towards a large supermarket and that would have involved a stake out!

I see a lot of that where I live. There's a large population of Asian families and it's not unusual to see about 5 kids jumping around in the back. Must be difficult if you have a large family but a small car. Also worries me that they may not understand the law completely with regards to passenger safety.

Mishy1234 · 29/05/2012 08:40

I would definitely report. I can't believe that people still don't realise the importance of car seats for young children. I think the police would take it very seriously.

carabos · 29/05/2012 08:51

Visiting SiL and BiL recently (total lentil weaving, barefoot going, no technology types) we were a but surprised to find that although they had the appropriate child safety seats in their vehicle, they didn't insist that their little DCs (5 & 3) fastened them properly.

I made the mistake of thinking that younger DC had slipped his arms out unnoticed and tried to make persuade to put them back into the straps so I could re-fasten them properly but he was having none of it. When his father came up to see what the fuss was about, he gave me a Hmm look when I explained. Shock.

toofattorun · 29/05/2012 10:46

It's pointless having a car seat unless its done up properly. It's just shocking how ignorant people choose to be.
