Apparantly, everyone around me is incapable of booking their own holiday - they all want to holiday with me. This means I have to book, plan and organise everyone elses holiday. My sister, my ex MIL and my two kids (I don't mind booking my kids, obviously!!) but nobody can decide where they want to go!!

Sister (20) wants to go to New York. MIL wants Orlando. DS1 wants Los Angeles. DS2 doesn't give a shit as long as there is "stuff to do".

I'm confused.

AIBU to just go where I want and give everyone else to option whether to come with me or not? I'm sick of being expected to organise everyone elses holidays! 5th one now!!

Also, AIBU to tell DS (15) that he can go to LA when he's old enough to take himself there? I kinda feel guilty for not taking him but FFS, he's been miles more places than most kids his age!

What kind of holiday would you want?

Maybe that is exactly the sort of holiday you should plan!

SatinSheets · 28/05/2012 15:37

I don't know to be honest. It will be the last one with the kids so I'm kinda thinking it should be as child friendly as possible so maybe ... orlando? although we've already been (but there is tons of stuff we missed first time around)

I think there is a lot to recommend with the Club Med/Mark Warner sorts of holidays. Yes, they are expensive but most (all?) meals and activities are included. The beauty is that everyone can do what they want (separately or together), meet for meals - and no one has to research/organise it all!

we took ours to orlando 2 years ago as it would be DD1 last big familiy holiday with us we didnt do disney we did universal and busch gardens loads to do , book orlando , Make L A your sons mission for when he is older and working Smile

LA might actually be a good bet. Great for teens.

Ugh, why would you want to go on holiday with all of those people?

Go on your own.

Can you imagine the endless discussions?

Where shall we have dinner? Oh I don't know, where do you want? How about this? Oh no I'm not keen on that. Well how about this? Oh I'm not fussy me, anywhere is fine. OK then let's go here. Really, you want to go there? Yes, why not? I'm not sure I like the look of it. I thought you said anywhere was fine by you. Well yes, but I meant anywhere nice, not just anywhere.

YABVU to feel guilty for not taking your son to Los Angeles, btw.

Dear god what a bizarre scenario.

I agree with whoever suggested Club Med/Mark Warner. Then everyone can do their own thing and you meet up at mealtimes. Lovely.

Why will it be your last holiday with your children?

SatinSheets · 28/05/2012 16:11

Ok well me and MIL have decided on Orlando.

Sister will have the option whether to come or not.

DS1 has gone off in a major mood saying I'm crap and he's not coming. Ungrateful brat that he is.

Anyone's 15 year old fancy a free trip to Orlando? :D

I'll come........if I can take a few years off my age (she says with Passport at the ready)!!!!

Trills, I hate that sort of thing! You all end up hungry and cross and someone's always, always disappointed and even if you get what you wanted, you can't enjoy it because someone else is pissed off. And then you get the problem of the bill...

(thinks back to particularly trying trip to London with ILs who are not "big-city confident" - I seemed to spend the whole time standing on corners listening to people say "well, I'm not hungry but I could eat, I suppose, anywhere you want to go is fine...")
