I noticed yesterday that dd1's DS is in very poor condition. As I now have a little bit more free cash from working eleventy million extra shifts for the foreseeable future I thought I would be nice and replace it for her with a less scratched second hand NDS. The luverly man in the second hand gaming shop said he would sell me one for £35 unboxed and with no charger, since I am a good customer. They normally sell for around £45.

This is not good enough for dd1 who cannot understand why I won't replace hers with a 3DS. Needless to say she is now getting nothing.

DH is now in a mood because I offered to replace hers in the first place.

And to top it all off he has now just stormed upstairs, slamming doors and stating he is not going to go and do the shopping for dd2's party later because clearly I am intent on ruining dd2's party Confused for dd1 (who I treat differently to dd1, apparently, and do not make as much fuss over)

Also I am because I bought real cigarettes instead of just having my electic one. I am buying a pack of ten around every two days, as opposed to 30 a day, just because I fancy a real one every now and again. I have saved around £80 this week. £30 of which I loaned to dd1 and the other £50 is being spent on dd2's party. The weeks coming extra money is all being spent on dd2's birthday meal out and a trip to the local teddy factory.

I don't feel I treat them differently. It upsets me that anyone would think I do.

I tried to be nice and it all gets thrown back in my face.

At least dd1 has now come and apologised. More than I can say for my fellow 'adult' in this house Hmm

Well at least my children have sorted themselves out. Dd1 is now very sorry and accepts that expecting a new 3DS is unrealistic and given how she has looked after her ds lite. She has thought of a way to replace her ds by herself (mainly by selling things that do not belong to her Hmm)

She is now helping to get things for dd2's party to show how sorry she is.

DH has now gone shopping.

never seen an OP then resolved by the OP in the second post.

I have nothing to add. enjoy the party!

all within 13 mins, thats a record surely! Wink

D0oinMeCleanin · 27/05/2012 13:22

Not in this house it's a not a record. Dd1 is a master of getting what she wants and often realises within seconds that she has pushed things too far. Hence the dramatic turn around.

There is going to be a catch somewhere that will involve getting a 3DS at some point. She is not daft enough to give up so soon.

I'm confused! I thought you had left your DH?

ImperialBlether · 27/05/2012 17:43

I thought it was your daughter's son who was in poor condition!
