AIBU to think that in every school there is one parent

who believes that they are the font of all knowledge on parenting and spouts off the right way to do everything (obviously the way they do it). The type of person who manages to smile while patronisingly sympathises about your child's awful behaviour.

AIBU to secretly hope their children turn into nightmare teenagers Wink and is there one in every classroom around the country?

I have to say that during my decade of twice daily school runs I never came across a font of knowledge parent. Some weirdos, yes, but not a single know it all.

Thankfully those days are behind me now.

There is always at least one or two and in my experience their perfect children turn into the most vile teenagers but these parents seem blinkered to their own children's faults !

WorraLiberty · 25/05/2012 10:30

Lol you're not wrong.

I've 'come out the other end' of this because I have a 20yr old and I still see some of those smug parents around...except now they've been through the teenage years, they're not quite as smug Grin

Also, there have been know-it-all parents with just the one extremely well behaved child, who think it's all down to their parenting...until they have another couple of kids later in life and realise they're all very individual and can be like chalk and cheese Wink

IAmBooybilee · 25/05/2012 10:32

i've never experienced this. but i dont tend to hang around at drop off or pick up times. i get in and out as fast as i can unless i see someone i know i like. Grin

helloclitty · 25/05/2012 10:34

YABU to say there is one in every school unless you have done a thorough investigation with a decently-sized sample of schools.

MissFaversham · 25/05/2012 10:35

My teen is perfect Grin

Oh, apart from:

Never wanting to go to bed
Never wanting to get up
Leaving his clothes where they fall
ALWAYS leaving his phone on silent when out
Every piece of homework only needing to be 2 lines long

But there again it's all MY fault Grin

bochead · 25/05/2012 10:36

They aren't half as bad as the never had kids themselves but drive nuts when your pfb is at the terrible twos stage.

RabidAnchovy · 25/05/2012 10:43

We had one of these, but it went far beyond parenting advice, it was everything fashion, marriage, building work, everything

Have to admit there were a few giggles in the play ground when her perfect husband left their perfect marriage and she had to move out of her perfect house and her perfect children started acting up.
