Age not being kind...

OP posts:
theinets · 24/05/2012 23:27

She is a big drinker. It ages people especially women. Smoker too?

zookeeper · 24/05/2012 23:28

She'll be seventy in just over five years. Perhaps age has aged her .

aquashiv · 24/05/2012 23:29

So she looks like the back end of a boxers arse sometimes dont we all. Anyone of you that have a career in a industry that is sometimes based on ones looks then I would say she has dont ok for her self. Could it perhaps be she is quite a cluely lady and her skills arent based on how tight her skin is round her eyes.

zookeeper · 24/05/2012 23:30

eh?

bibbitybobbitybunny · 24/05/2012 23:32

How do we know she is a "big drinker"?

skybluepearl · 24/05/2012 23:37

Ah shes lovely just the way she is

LadyBeagleEyes · 24/05/2012 23:38

Yeah, what Bibbity said.
Who says she's a big drinker?
If she is, it certainly doesn't show.
It's a bit fucking scary that a well known telly presenter who hasn't succumed to Botox or surgery is slagged off on a mainly women's website for her appearance, And how the fuck do you spell succummed.

lunamoon · 24/05/2012 23:39

She looks like most women of her age, your opinion is skewed by cosmetic surgery.

FashionEaster · 24/05/2012 23:41

My old primary headteacher was reportedly a heavy-drinker. Turned out it was early on-set of Parkinson's.

FashionEaster · 24/05/2012 23:41

We are so used to seeing women botoxed up to the hilt on TV, maybe we've forgotten what natural aging looks like.

SpringHeeledJack · 24/05/2012 23:42

iirc she kept having to take time off Richard and Judy for what sounded like something nasty, including a hysterectomy

it was then that the boozy rumours started

god, but the press are a bunch of cunts sometimes

Nancy66 · 24/05/2012 23:43

I don't think she's an alchie.

The rumours are based on nothing more than the shaking hands. Nobody has ever seen her rolling drunk.

I doubt she'd be able to get up at 6am every day for 12 years if she was hitting the bottle big time.

SpringHeeledJack · 24/05/2012 23:44

tbh if I had to put up with Richard I'd be a bit shaky

i have been known to follow him idly have a look see just to check out what he's up to on the twitter

the man is like Tigger, ffs

LadyBeagleEyes · 24/05/2012 23:46

Well, I've always liked her.
She always came across as professional and very likeable.
I hope her writing is a success.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 24/05/2012 23:51

Um......can't believe I'm reading this on here, leave the woman alone. And I hope all those speculating on the fact she's dared to get older end up with faces like a withered old ring piece when they get to her age, serve you right.

FannyFifer · 24/05/2012 23:52

Jings, Judy on TV, I thought Richard kept her locked in the cellar or something.

SpringHeeledJack · 24/05/2012 23:52

I like her

I sneakily like him as well, tho his Express-stylee politics stink imo

LadyBeagleEyes · 24/05/2012 23:57

They do seem to have a good marriage, don't they? Very supportive and lot's of laughs.
Ok that's only what I see on the tv, but they always look very believable together.

galletti · 25/05/2012 00:19

Alice in Boots - where did you get the FACT about Judy's fondness of gin? If you actually cared, or did some research, you would discover that her problems going back a few years were down to a lot of ill health - not related to drinking, - and if she had the odd glass or even two sometimes, well she wouldn't be alone, would she? You are nasty. And FGS, how about celebrating her career and why she was on This Morning, instead of just bitching about her looks. And no, I'm not related. Smile

Devora · 25/05/2012 01:02

Hold the front page: woman gets older shocker Hmm

This is a really unpleasant thread. God, women can be such Uncle Toms sometimes.

empirestateofmind · 25/05/2012 02:04

A woman being slated for her looks. By other women.

Horrible thread.

NurseBernard · 25/05/2012 02:45

Awful thread.

I can see that it was meant to be a bit light-hearted / observational, but it's actually quite cruel.

Pochemuchka · 25/05/2012 04:28

I don't think she looks at all bad for her age. Especially as she lives with that twat Madeley.
Only criticism I have is her resemblance to David Emanuel.

HillyWallaby · 25/05/2012 05:00

*I think she looks fine for a woman of 64 who's been unlucky with her health.

More important to me is why it provokes such a shocked reaction to see a woman on TV not a size 10, not under 35 and not bland, beige and blonde.

It is a sad reflection on how TV skews our view of woman post menopause I think.

And I bet she gives the most amazing cuddles *

Yes, that. ^ And also what Laurie said on page 1 about how we are rarely allowed to see a female TV presenter ageing naturally, so when we do it's a shock.

I admire her hugely. She is intelligent, successful, warm and real, with a great sense of humour and her younger, rather handsome husband ADORES her.

Back in the day when she was very high profile ont' telly it really was hard to think of a bad word to say about her. She was highly personable and professional, and brilliant at her job. At the top of her game for many, many years. I don't think she needs to give a stuff about a few eye bags now.
