Age not being kind...

OP posts:
DogEared · 24/05/2012 19:27

Horrible thread. Just goes to show that the media norm is to see tight botoxed faces. Lines are there because of smiles, and we should celebrate them. I do. I look at my wrinkles and I think they're pretty.

PerVagine · 24/05/2012 19:31

She looks fine, she looks like a 64 year old.

There are some seriously screwed views on here. Wind yer necks back in Angry

sybilfaulty · 24/05/2012 19:41

Poor Judy. That is one photo when she is pulling a bad face, god knows how many rubbish photos there are of me in existence, let alone press following me when I am popping to the shops or putting the bins out. She is mid s=60s but look fine and dandy most of the time for someone of her age.

RM is about 8 years younger I think and he has worn very well, whereas she has just aged at a natural pace.

They seem to have a happy marriage, don't offend others, love each other and their kids, so I don't have a problem. This morning reminds me of University- hours wasted - and she must have been around my age now back then. Perhaps I'll look like that in 2035.

JustFab · 24/05/2012 20:11

All you who have been bitchy, do you feel better for it?

bibbitybobbitybunny · 24/05/2012 20:14

Oh can someone summarise who was being a stupid ageist arse on this thread? Time to update my spreadsheet.

Dropdeadfred · 24/05/2012 20:27

Me for posting a pic even though I did say I didn't think she looked awful just caught in a bad day

Nancy66 · 24/05/2012 21:55

You won't find many people who have worked for JF at various stages in her career who have anything other than praise for her.

A former producer is a good friend of mine, says she was down-to-earth, totally un-starry, nice to all the crew, remembered birthdays, happy to have a night out with the underlings and buy the drinks.

Kennyp · 24/05/2012 22:01

Michelle pfeiffer was on ellen with johnny depp. She looked very taut. Very very ery
Joan collins looks amizing for 342 or hiwever old she is.

Am very annoyed that madeley is on radio 2 sunday mornings until the end of bloody august though.

Couldnt give a rats arse about how judy looks.
Perhaos i should have deleted all this.

edam · 24/05/2012 22:01

That's nice to hear, Nancy.

MinnieBar · 24/05/2012 22:03

DH is younger than me (and I'm 40 this year so it suddenly seems like a bigger gap) so I'm on Team Judy.

Actually, me and DH have exactly the same age gap as Gwynnie and Chris, just without the money.

Or the talent.
Or the macrobiotic diets.
Or the level of attractiveness.

I could go on...

JosephineCD · 24/05/2012 22:05

Has she got whiskers on her chin again?

aliceinboots · 24/05/2012 22:13

Judy has whiskers?

Can't say I noticed that and we have HD telly.

treefumaster · 24/05/2012 22:18

Joan Collins doesn't look amazing for her age. She looks amazing for an almost totally reconstructed woman. She's in her late 70s and that is just not what happens to flesh and bone after almost 80 years on this earth, whatever "beauty regime" and "healthy eating" you want to bang on about to the magazines.

It's no wonder we think JF looks old when she looks normal. I would like to say "oh I'm totally relaxed about cosmetic surgery - each to their own" but actually I think it's insidious and damaging to all of us.

aliceinboots · 24/05/2012 22:21

I wonder if Helen Mirren has had "work". She's about Judy's age isn't she?

I think it's probably ill health, bad nerves and too much booze.
Dick can't help much either.

shattereddreams · 24/05/2012 22:44

I don't think I was being bitchy. I thought I was being factual.
Fact my mum has aged a zillion times better than Judy.
Fact Judy is well known for her love of Gin.

VivaLeBeaver · 24/05/2012 22:50

I don't think it is a fact that Judy loves gin. I think rumours about her supposed alcoholism are so widespread its now widely believed to be true. She was accused of being drunk/hung over on TV once and said it was due to meds. She has had/does have health problems.

stressheaderic · 24/05/2012 22:50

I've just watched them on ITVplayer thingy.

Richard is such a gorm isn't he. Utterly cringeworthy. Ah he does still love her enormously though, and I admire that.

She has aged a lot. Is that puffiness normal? My MIL is 64 and hers isn't like that. My aunts are all late 50s and look well, still have defined facial features and no turkey neck.

She really is uncomfortable being on tv isn't she. When the fly was buzzing around and they were all relaxed and laughing, she was clutching her knees and looking rigid. I still loves her though.

zookeeper · 24/05/2012 22:56

She looks like a 64 year old woman - we're so used to seeing pinned up faces on tv that she stands out, that's all. Good on her.

JosephineCD · 24/05/2012 22:58

This is probably why you don't get many older women on TV.

Look at the presenters of strictly come dancing. A 40 year old woman paired with an 84 year old man. Can you imagine the reverse?

iceandsliceplease · 24/05/2012 23:05

She looks her age, and I think she's brilliant for not having all the 'work' that pretty much every other woman in the public eye has. Shock horror! Woman looks her age! Jaysus, we should be celebrating her, not bitching about her.

iceandsliceplease · 24/05/2012 23:07

JosephineCD - good point. Can anyone think of a 40+ year old female currently used as a presenter on an entertainment programme?

LadyBeagleEyes · 24/05/2012 23:22

She just looks her age really, nothing more, nothing less.
Richard is the same age as me, I'm ok for 56, but as I don't ever intend to have any work done or give up the wine, I imagine I'll look pretty much like her in 10 years time.
I'll be fine with that.

JosephineCD · 24/05/2012 23:24

Tess Daly is 43.

Davina MccAll is 44.

You don't get much older than that though.

peanutbutter38 · 24/05/2012 23:26

we have a very warped idea of the aging process these days thanks to the fact that women are no longer allowed to (age, that is!). Plastic surgery, botox, hair dye etc. means that many women stay a certain age for several decades, on the outside at least. Hurray for real women like JF, who isn't afraid to be who she is.

zookeeper · 24/05/2012 23:26

Agree with Ice - we should be celebrating her. Good on her.
I will be horribly disappointed if she starts looking startled and plastic and Vordermany soon
