in thinking my town council are completely out of their tree?

At the beginning of the year the train station in the middle of town looked like this.

The town council thought it looked tired and needed a facelift. Fair enough. A few weeks ago I nearly hit a tree when I saw it now looked like this.

Eventually the shock wore off and it started to grow on me. But then the weird shit started appearing. Today it looks like this, or from the other side.

As you can see here, it blends in well. Confused

I'm thinking I need to stay away from the water.

Its rather 'busy' isnt it , perhaps the blue is some sort of environmental undercoat ? Otherwise its truly hilarious and your town will be the talk of the country .

LineRunner · 23/05/2012 20:39

I don't have the two dots on my keyboard. Have I been ever ruder than I intended? Grin

WhyAlwaysBoris · 23/05/2012 20:43

Oh i really needed a good laugh this evening, thank you so much UnMember.

I could see that if you lived opposite the joke might wear a tad thin after a while but for the rest of us its brilliant :)

TheUnMember · 23/05/2012 20:52

LineRunner Go to google translate and type in oster and see what comes up. I don't want to spoil the surpise. It's a simple, everyday, un-rude word ... apart from in the context you used. A stroke of genius. :o

It emmm blue isnt it

I mean BLUE blue, in fact I think its the bluest (non rude blue) thing Ive ever seen.

YohoAhoy · 23/05/2012 21:05

It's not some cunning paint-like covering is it? One that can be excitingly whipped off at the grand opening, revealing something a little, um, less blue?

Probably not.

(Has anyone else clicked on the pictures more than once, just to make sure it really was that blue?)

TheUnMember · 23/05/2012 21:17

It really is that blue. It's drive round the corner, be taken by totally by surprise and crash into the other stunned driver blue.

YohoAhoy · 23/05/2012 21:35

Maybe it's a somewhat drastic marketing ploy by the railway company?

The more car crashes, the more people will be forced to take the train.

Crude, but effective. Grin

CelstialNavigation · 23/05/2012 22:32

They should be holding the Eurovision in that building.

pictish · 23/05/2012 22:38

I like it!!

I think more houses and buildings should be painted bright colours.

slatternlymother · 23/05/2012 22:44

Awww I like how they thoughtfully ordered scaffolding in the exact same shade of cookie monster blue Grin

TheUnMember · 23/05/2012 22:53

That was a cunning plan to stop the complaints. We saw it was blue as it was being painted but thought it wasn't really blue, it just looked like that because of the blue safety netting. Then the netting came down Shock

pictish I wanted to paint my house bubblegum pink last year but chickened out. Didn't want the council to make me redo it. Then they unveiled this. Next time my house gets painted (in 25 years) it's going to match the train station.

Ah, so it's modern art.

I must say I'm with the little boy who was puzzled by all the talk of the Emporor's new clothes on this one.

more images of the work of German artist Katharina Grosse

My sympathies, TheUnMember. This would make my eyes bleed if I had to see it twice too often.

TheUnMember · 24/05/2012 00:00

Yikes! Her work is like a nightmare after eating too much ... hard yellow sandwich filling made from milk (the correct term has been permanently corrupted by LineRunner).

TheCunnyFunt · 24/05/2012 07:44

Cheese do you mean UnMember? Wink :o

Looks like that Kathrina really likes her rainbows!

LineRunner · 24/05/2012 11:30

Apparently you can even get it in spray cans these days.

BunnyProblem · 24/05/2012 11:46

I know! Squirty cheese. I've never seen it though, can you get it in the UK?

LineRunner · 24/05/2012 11:46

I mean the oster. Not the frighteningly blue paint. I think the frighteningly blue paint comes out of special government research laboratories.

TheCunnyFunt · 24/05/2012 11:51

:o frighteningly blue paint

They must've had it specially made. Surely no sane DIY store would stock that colour?
