Absolutely fed up with the usual Saturday routine of housework, weekly shop, sorting out crap in the house....

After recently reading Shirley Conran, and in the spirit of her phrase "Life is too short to stuff a mushroom" I would like to say......

Life is too short to bloody well dust skirting boards!

Definitely ironing.

StealthPolarBear · 19/05/2012 17:41

oh yes cleaning pooey pants - if DS had that sort of an accident I threw them out and told nursery to do the same!

naughtymummy · 19/05/2012 17:50

Clear out ones handbag. Dh made me do it recently. Only to find I had no suncream in it when in the park tjis afternoon :)

Smellslikecatspee · 19/05/2012 18:07

To drink cheap & nasty wine

Smophette · 19/05/2012 18:29

life is too short to not spend time with the people you love when you have the chance.

GurlwiththeFrothyCurl · 19/05/2012 18:58

Too short to moan about what you don't have, just be thankful for what you do have. I nearly died at 39 and I wouldn't have been here to see my boys grow up. So even though life is tough - DH and DS1 are disabled, my health is crap and we struggle in many ways - I'm still here and most of those I love still are too. So every day, I try to do my best to keep putting one foot in front of the other, find something to appreciate and tell me dear ones that I love them.

AWomanCalledHorse · 19/05/2012 19:02

To spend with people you don't like (be it coworkers outside of work, shite partners or crap family members).

To give a flying feck what other people think of you.

To not tell OH how lovely they are everyday.

feuerandwasser · 19/05/2012 19:17

Ironing....can't be arsed with it.

wordfactory · 19/05/2012 19:19

Whinging...either make a change or deal with it.

GwennieF · 19/05/2012 19:21

Peeling mushrooms....

Goolash · 19/05/2012 19:31

Bitching at work. Someone gets a bit irritated with another person, there a small personality clash. Before you know it the usual little 5 min getting rid of your frustration turns into long term bitching. The person winds themselves up, then puts ideas into others head about the person, gets others to join in, winds them up. I see it happen so often.

Grrrrrrrr

Cheers boss, I had never thought that jo from upstairs was a bit like that, now you've put that idea in my head. Jo is a perfectly normal person. I am not going to join on with you mimicking her, that's feckin childish. Dear boss you are being a bitch.

NicNocJnr · 19/05/2012 19:57

This is one for the print button!

Ironing - definitely! My nan still irons socks, pants and teatowels!!

Giving more than an allotted amount of flying fucks per day - seriously I have about 6 and they're for the kids & DH, family & close friends in that order.

Nursing a hurt - let it go. I wasted years I'll never get back. I love the quote 'holding a grugde is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die'. Quite! I don't use one of my FFs to worry about some percieved slight grating on another or going over old ground. Make it right if you can, if you can't then that's sad but shit happens and life goes on whether you like it or not.

Buying in to the idea that grown up stuff is so serious it over rides everything else - I don't use my FFs on this either. We work diligently, we pay the bills and we don't break the law - everything else is about making the most of your life surely? If we want to water fight in the garden we will, if we want to have a pea flinging contest so be it and when DCs decided they wanted to have disgusting coloured walls then fine - there's nothing so serious you can never recover from it, apart from the one thing we can't plan for. Material things don't matter - losing a material thing doesn't take a bit of you with it, getting over the inconvenience is what we do but don't mourn 'stuff' because there's always something that's waiting to knock you out of your carefully constructed comfort zone. If I died tomorrow I know that I would leave good memories behind for my kids and husband. They wouldn't think 'if only mum had had more time to xxx' that's all I really care about. If anyone has a problem with it they can jog on!

Oh, and I never peel anything I don't absolutely have to!

flickor · 19/05/2012 20:02

to fuss about the garden - grass will get cut when we do not get rain.

knowitallstrikesagain · 19/05/2012 20:05

When I had DC people kept telling me 'Life is too short for cleaning and cooking, children grow up when you're not looking'. So I stopped cleaning and cooking.

I now live in a shithole. But at least we are all thin.

Goolash · 19/05/2012 20:07

NicNoc that is a fine quote and has made me very happy.

Softlysoftly · 19/05/2012 20:15

For pulling nettles as well actually, I think they look quite fetching.

PullUpAPew · 19/05/2012 20:21

Sometimes when I have spent hours on MN I wonder if life is too short for MN, would I be better off using my time doing something more productive?

PullUpAPew · 19/05/2012 20:21

Then I think, nah, don't be silly Smile

sensuallettuce · 19/05/2012 20:24

To allow my ex husband to continue to infuriate me as much as he does.

MissM · 19/05/2012 20:36

To queue in the bloody Post Office.

I like ironing (but not pants or tea towels FGS).

needsomesunshine · 19/05/2012 20:47

Ironing & watching endless amounts of rubbish on tv. I don't let the kids stay in when it's sunny. You never know when it's going to be nice againSmile

thegreylady · 19/05/2012 20:58

ironing for me

NicNocJnr · 19/05/2012 21:01

I liked it Goolash! It did actually cause me to cop on to myself so very helpful in the long run Grin

I like ironing on my terms but not when it's taking time away from fun stuff. I think everyone should do more fun things and muck about...actually thinking about another thread and fancying getting a onesie!!

MarySA · 19/05/2012 21:04

To stay in a job you hate. I did for over 20 years. Wish I hadn't. Still it's water under the bridge now I suppose.

Trestle · 19/05/2012 21:06

impatience
