Is it possible to follow MN netiquette and not drag up what a poster's said on another thread?

Out of general curiosity rather than about a specific poster/thread, but when you've read and can't help remembering, for example, a poster's extreme view on one thread, is it possible to keep that separate if you run into them on another thread as MN 'netiquette' suggests you should?

It's easy to remember a posters name when they've been kind or given good advice, so that shows some posters do remember each other and it's not all 'words on a screen' ([wee humphy face] Grin).

Maybe the netiquette's more to do with 'Think it all you like, just don't post it', but the nature of MN being an anonymous site with the majority a lot of gobby shites outspoken posters, makes it impossible to keep to the 'rule'?

AIBU?

And will the flaming you give me follow me from thread to thread for ever more? (please let it be so, it'd make me feel important) Grin

Maryfuckerz has a nice ring to it.... wondered why I hadn't seen you about!

jubilucket -is there a thread about smileys for jubilee? If not, I shall start one.Grin

slowestwildebeast · 18/05/2012 23:59

I remember stealthpolarbear because she said she went to her maths exam with rollers in. I thought it was hilarious. Hope I don't get flamed for mentioning it here. :) I try not to post outrageous comments in sensitive threads. My history is checkered.

StealthPolarBear · 19/05/2012 00:00

Wasn't me - must have been stranded!

WorraLiberty · 19/05/2012 00:03

I know Mrbojangles said she was thinking of going to her DN's birthday party in rollers and looked like Medusa Grin

I never did find out if she did or not.

slowestwildebeast · 19/05/2012 00:06

Dammit. I am a wassock. If anyone advanced searched me they'd think I was posessed. I never did get over the poster who ignored my suggestions to name her chickens 2peck or clucky pecky after music stars. Sorry stealth. :(

slowestwildebeast · 19/05/2012 00:08

My spelling appears to be dodgy also.

StealthPolarBear · 19/05/2012 00:08

It's not a problem, I've never used rollers, I did use those rag things once but thet all fell out :o

WorraLiberty · 19/05/2012 00:09

I've just burst into an irrational fit of laughter at '2peck' Grin

We always name the Sunday roast chicken cos we're wierdos for a laugh and for some reason, it's always Nigel.

This Sunday It's going to be 2peck

I hope you take a little comfort from that slowest Grin

manicbmc · 19/05/2012 00:12

What's wrong with 'Nigel'? It's a nice name. Grin

Anyway, I can hardly remember my own name and what I've said, let alone what anyone else posted 3 months ago.

StealthPolarBear · 19/05/2012 00:13

I like 2peck too :o
Didn't get the other one, sorry
You are mean, naming the bird you're about to devour. Hope 2peck is tasty.

slowestwildebeast · 19/05/2012 00:15

Yey. I do.
I always picture the catherine tate granny when you post worra.

WorraLiberty · 19/05/2012 00:15

There's nothing wrong with Nigel as such...but we're lacking imagination.

I tried to call the last one John and the kids were like, "Oh yeah, as if we're going to eat a chicken called John"?!?

Confused
slowestwildebeast · 19/05/2012 00:16

I don't think it was clucky but it was equally dire. No wonder they ignored me.

manicbmc · 19/05/2012 00:16

I call dd Bernard.

WorraLiberty · 19/05/2012 00:18

I aspire to be the Catherine Tate Granny! Grin

I have 3 boys and I fully expect MN to be awash with desperate posts from my future DILs one day.

"My MIL's never happy and won't stop calling me a cunt...AIBU?"

entropygirl · 19/05/2012 00:18

Hey dudes....

So can anyone confirm or deny for me the fact that whenever you get a reasonably funny thread in the round up, precisely one humourless fecker post how unfunny, childish, and selfish you are?

I know it isn't just me...because the painted pigeon thread got one too....

Oh and I will deffo bring up something stupid someone has said in a previous thread, IF the topic is the same....

WorraLiberty · 19/05/2012 00:22

Oh I loved the painted pigeon thread Grin

There are always one or two humourless fuckers around but I suppose having them on pigeon threads, at least stops them from tutting at Supermarket checkout operators for making friendly small talk about their choice of frozen veg.

manicbmc · 19/05/2012 00:26

Can you tell me what I said last Saturday, please? I may have been a bit sloshed. Shock

BawdyStrumpet · 19/05/2012 00:31

I have changed certain views since I joined MN, mainly because I have been educated on certain things. I would hate to be called on something I posted 5 years ago. If someone posted last week though, and a different POV this week, I would be looking for the reason though....

WorraLiberty · 19/05/2012 00:31

You said I fucking love that Worra and I'm going to Paypal her a large and generous donation to prove it.

You then went on to say something about a piss taking bitch but I'm going to assume your account was hacked Grin

LondonKitty · 19/05/2012 00:34

Lol at Worra's DIL's being called cunts.... Will they be able to advance search 2012 archives and remind you of that?!!

WorraLiberty · 19/05/2012 00:36

Good point LondonKitty

I'd better take a screenshot just in case they can't.

It'll make a nice wedding card Grin

manicbmc · 19/05/2012 00:36

I didn't think I was that drunk!

WorraLiberty · 19/05/2012 00:39

I didn't think I was that drunk!

To be fair nor did I until 'that' episode with the goose fat and the cricket balls

However, the 3rd row of the audience are said to be in recovery.
