torch is arriving? That it will be touring around the country? Or that the Olympics will be in London this summer?

I hate watching sport and find it annoying that it will interrupt perfectly good television.

YADDDDDDDDDDDDDNNNNNNNNBU Grin

I will probably get flamed for this but I couldn't give a flying fuck about the Olympics. I live in London and quite frankly DREAD the whole bloody shenanigans.

JamieandTheMagicTorch · 18/05/2012 18:56

Ach you old kil joys. Watch the paralympics and cheer yourselves up at the human endeavour

SauvignonBlanche · 18/05/2012 18:57

YANBU, I couldn't give a flying fuck!

JamieandTheMagicTorch · 18/05/2012 18:58

I feel like this about EVERY SINGLE FOOTBALL MATCH EVER, so I do understand

BlackOutTheSun · 18/05/2012 19:03

YANBU

I'm already fed up of hearing about the bloody olympics

JosephineCD · 18/05/2012 19:06

How will the Olympics "interrupt perfectly good television"?

bebemoose · 18/05/2012 19:08

YANBU - I couldn't care less either - I feel sorry for those who live or work in London who will not be able to get around during those weeks.

pickledparsnip · 18/05/2012 19:16

YANBU! I completely agree, couldn't give a shit. The torch is coming through my town tomorrow, I am being dragged along to watch. I guess it's one of those things I should see, but I really don't care. Plus the crowds will be horrendous. I hate crowds (grump alert).

AuraofDora · 18/05/2012 19:24

If they ran the 200 metre final in my garden I would not look out the window

wish we had spent the all our public money on something we actually need homes, schools, care for the elderly, decent transport, respite for disabled people etc..
Blowing all our dosh on a sports event is so pointless imho not to mention building on precious metropolitan open land ffs oh not forgetting, an extra 40 million for fireworks the overpriced pointless ugly street sculpture and parties for politicians and the greedy dictators of the IOC with their zil lane shit
biggest mistake of recent times

hermionestranger · 18/05/2012 19:25

There is a poster near my college informing the general public that there will be disruption in the roads because of the Olympics, so plan your journey in advance.

We are in east manchester! Waste of money much?

chocoroo · 18/05/2012 19:29

Bah humbug. YABU.

I love anything like this, it's one of the things I love the most about this country. We have some amazing citizens and some fantastic communities.

I was at the Olympic Stadium last week and saw some Paralympians competing. One race had 6 guys, and 3 of them broke World Records, including the guy who came last. How is that not awesome?

Itsjustafleshwound · 18/05/2012 19:29

The Olympics means that my DH as a contractor has been ordered by his company to take a few unpaid days off work so that the company can reduce the traffic going into London.

I suppose it will be good to see some sport, but just a wee bit overhyped

I am so excited Grin. I love the Olympics!

Psammead · 18/05/2012 19:32

If they ran the 200 meter final in my garden I'd be bloody impressed. It would involve lots of running in small circles and doubling back.

TheHumancatapult · 18/05/2012 19:35

Can we. Have the Parolympics please without the normal Olympics Grin

My local station already warned me that they ate expecting trains to be jammed due to where we live . And they will fo their best to run interferance and get me on train ( their bunch if fantastic staff ) . But as it is non bookable service if full not a lot they can do

We live between Cambridge and London and Stansted trains . Also expecting roads to be jammed to . So that be 6 weeks of school holidays not able to go anywhere

diedandgonetodevon · 18/05/2012 19:37

YABU. We're going to see the torch pass through the next town and have Olympics tickets. What we don't see live, I'll watch on television.
Can't bloody wait!

I've always loved watching the Olympics so to have them in Britain this time is fantastic.

Allegrogirl · 18/05/2012 19:39

pickledparsnip and Cassettetapeandpencil you must both be Cornish or Janners. We've got the torch tomorrow and Sunday. We've been invited to our shiny new Tom Daley approved sports centre on Sunday at 7.00am to watch the torch set off. Err, no thanks.

Ben10NeverAgain · 18/05/2012 19:41

We're having the Barbadian paralympic team to visit our children's disabled sports club. :)

And we have football tickets to the men's quarter finals.

roundtoit · 18/05/2012 19:42

we have been informed that streets around St james Park will be closed when the olympic football is taking place, They never have to close the streets off when Newcastle play every other week. Some of the shops in the area have complained that they will loose money but the olympics come first. I pity the poor locals in london.

WetAugust · 18/05/2012 19:44

We get the Fucking Flame next Tuesday.

Signs are out already warning of road closure - which will mean a 7 mile detour Angry

What a load of wank

Ben10NeverAgain · 18/05/2012 19:45

Bah humbug

mumof4sons · 18/05/2012 19:45

I am so glad I am not the only one. For a minute there I thought I was alone.

I asked 4DSs if they would like to watch the 'flame' arrive during dinner and got a resounding 'NO!'

YABVU.

I think it's going to be great. Dd1 is going to see some events organised by a weekend school trip.

Such alot to look forward to this Summer what with the footy, the Jubilee and then the Olympics.

I've got my bunting at the ready.

C'mon you miseries - get into the spirit.
