Are you TPS registered?

GateGipsy · 17/05/2012 12:22

Me too! I think I was careless in what I ticked/didn't tick once in an online form. I remember at the time thinking, oops did I actually read that properly? End result being I've been 'shared' and seem to be getting increasing numbers of these calls.

FioFio · 17/05/2012 12:27

yes I am tps registered as well but they are recorded phonecalls and they don't leave a number (it shows as unknown)

sometimes it's a bloke, a woman with an accent and then they change again.

They are driving me mad!

supernannyisace · 17/05/2012 12:28

I get loads too. They tend to ring mid afternoon, just when I am having my nap.zzzz - bastardos!!!

TPS registered- I think I need to renew it and see if that helps.

I also get loads from debt management companies - asking if I have sorted out my debt problems. I tell them that i am an exceedingly wealthy woman and have no need for a loan Grin

I am not an exceedingly wealthy woman... Grin

valiumredhead · 17/05/2012 12:28

Screen all your calls for a month and only pick up if they say who they are. They stop phoning if it goes to answer phone.

redskyatnight · 17/05/2012 12:29

Me too!! I am also TPS registered - seems to make no difference. We get so many (at least 2-3 a day) that surely even if we were interested in contacting the company we would have done so by now!!

redskyatnight · 17/05/2012 12:29

... ours always go to answerphone so I don't think that helps.

FioFio · 17/05/2012 12:31

mine go to answerphone sometimes as well, they just carry on talking and you get half the message Confused

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 17/05/2012 12:36

I get two a day every day, we are TPS and ex directory. The numbers show up on caller id but if I ignore them they go onto he answerphone so I have to delete them, easier to answer and hang up. Mine are all pre recorded messages which aren't covered by TPS, so not a lot you can do I don't think.

FioFio · 17/05/2012 12:38

yes these are pre recorded messages too

OP posts:
Paiviaso · 17/05/2012 12:39

I am really frustrated by it. I used to get several calls a day, all which left 1 second long voicemails which I had to delete.

Now I get texts all the bloody time.

I wish I knew how to make it stop.

CurrySpice · 17/05/2012 12:42

I'm getting the texts too Angry

No idea where they've got my number from. Wankers

FWIW I claimed my PPI back all by myself using the letters on moneysavingexpert.com so they can fuck right off with their texts

Leeds2 · 17/05/2012 12:42

I get 2 or 3 of these calls a day. I don't pick up the phone if the caller's id isn't displayed, but it does show a number and the call goes to answerphone.

I used to listen to the call and, when it said to do so at the end of the message, pressed 9 which they said meant you would be removed from their list. Didn't happen!

WorraLiberty · 17/05/2012 12:44

I was getting the recorded message ones 3 or 4 times a day and they drove me mad.

TPS said there was bugger all they could do about them.

I changed my number about 7 weeks ago and I haven't had a single one since.

EssexGurl · 17/05/2012 12:47

We are TPS as well but we still get them. I'm starting to get them on my mobile too. I have checked our mortgage documents and know that we don't have it. I tell them this but last week a chap started arguing with me. I hung up. One number kept calling and I called back and got a recorded message saying if I emailed a certain email address I could get removed from the database. I did but it bounced. Still get the calls.

tootssweet · 17/05/2012 12:48

YANBU! I blimmin' hate these calls - we're ex-directory, tps registered and we tend to give out made-up numbers to marketing & sales types so I don't think it makes any difference what you do. I am fed up with them - they wake up the baby because our phone up-stairs is next to his cot (not ideal I know but the phone is there for emergencies really.) And they've started on my mobile now too.......grrrrrr!

Ahhhnd rant over.......................

loveisagirlnameddaisy · 17/05/2012 12:55

YANBU. They are the bane of my life at the moment. I wouldn't mind if they were remotely targeted but I've never taken out PPI in my life so they're clearly just ringing anyone.

And I'm on the TPS which I think when it came out, most DM/telemarketing people did take seriously. Now they just don't bother to cross reference with the list and assume that no-one will complain seriously enough to make it a problem for them. When I have received calls, I've told them I'm on the TPS and asked why they're calling me. They don't give a reason, just apologise and hang up.

WilsonFrickett · 17/05/2012 12:57

I'm getting them too! I didn't think TPS covered mobiles though?

QueenOfF1amingEverything · 17/05/2012 13:02

I keep getting the texts - can't work out where they got my number, as I always give a fake one to any company I order from.

I have never had a mortgage or any other loan, so I guess they just text at random and hope they hit lucky.

Angry
WhiteWidow · 17/05/2012 16:43

Yes.

Especially as if you accept, they usually take 30 percent of what you get. You can go straight to the bank and they HAVE to investigate it. And keep all :)

Hulababy · 17/05/2012 16:49

I am TPS registered and still get PPI calls. DH has had them at work too (he's a solicitor). They always want to know who are previous banks have been. We have never had PPI. For some reason they don't seem to want to hear that and still continue to ask me!

mimbleandlittlemy · 17/05/2012 17:36

TPS only works if the calls are generated from the UK - they can't do anything about companies that are using overseas call centres and it's bloody irritating and I wish they would all go away. I've not had so many of the PPI calls, but have had masses of texts, but we do get a lot of the "we gather x (my dad) has had an accident and can claim y", to which I always say that that's interesting, can they give me more details, so they launch in and I let them run and run and run in a time wasting way, then cheerfully tell them that my dad's been dead for z years so perhaps they might like to get their manager as I'd like to know where they are getting their 'facts' from. Always goes down a storm (though I did have one tell me I must be wrong about the dates, but strangely you do tend to remember when your dad died....) Grin
