False eyelashes on the school run?

HexagonalQueenOfTheSummer · 09/05/2012 00:38

AIBU to think this is excessive? And when worn in conjunction with 4 inch heels, full fake tan, clothes suitable for a nightclub and hairpieces AIBU to think it's laughably over the top for the school run?

Said woman has told me she gets up at 5am every school day to get ready.

Yes, yes it is coco.

YonWhaleFish · 09/05/2012 10:13

Pyjamas & uggs? No idea what you're on about - haven't seen the thread!

This is bullying. Pure and simple.

If the woman in question were to come on here she will probably recognise herself from the info provided. It's not a generic thread wondering if dressing up in false eyelashes and tan is a bit OTT for the school run, it is singling out an individual, and gives away details with which the victim could recognise themselves. It is bullying of an individual.

Nobody should be bullied pagwatch but I am assuming you're taking the piss out of me.

takingiteasy · 09/05/2012 10:14

I have cute penguin's on my pj's but that's between me and my bed and not to mention the numerous neighbors that see them on the washing line but that's ok... Is it not? If I wore them to school I'd expect to be bullied. And the children, won't anyone think of the children?!

BumpingFuglies · 09/05/2012 10:16

If the woman in question was on here it could be bullying, but how could she be bullied if she's not even aware of it? How many threads are there about third parties doing this or that? You're being over the top YonWhale I think.

YonWhaleFish · 09/05/2012 10:16

Riiiiigggght. Bullying is a serious issue, many children commit suicide as a result of cyber bullying. I really don't think this is something that should have the piss taken out of it.

Pagwatch · 09/05/2012 10:16

I am not taking the piss out of anyone.
I am just posting rather randomly while I drink my coffee.

I suspect I am not quite as invested in this as everyone else but I am not sure.

YonWhaleFish · 09/05/2012 10:17

Bumpingfuglies How do you know she's not aware of it?

That's the point.

It is NOT over the top, bullying is a serious issue.

BumpingFuglies · 09/05/2012 10:18

Yes bullying is a very serious issue, but this isn't bullying.

BumpingFuglies · 09/05/2012 10:19

How do I know the driver I flipped the finger at the other day isn't on here? My friend's cousin's MIL? This is out of perspective.

YonWhaleFish · 09/05/2012 10:19

Yes it is.

It is taking the piss out of a recognisable individual on the internet, who for all you know could be on here.

YonWhaleFish · 09/05/2012 10:20

Have you started a thread taking the piss out of how they look? On which lots of people have piled in and slated them?

YonWhaleFish · 09/05/2012 10:21

A thread where they could easily recognise themselves?

CallMeAl · 09/05/2012 10:23

taking the piss out of someone is not bullying. You're being way OTT.

This thread is crass, judgemental, dull, overflowing with opinionated frothing, but its not bullying.

BumpingFuglies · 09/05/2012 10:25

So there is only one possible individual in the whole world that this woman could be? The OP has said nothing of location at all. To say this is bullying takes away from the real thing, that's all I'm saying. You obviously have strong views though YonWhale so I won't try to change your mind any more.

cocolepew · 09/05/2012 10:25

How is she going to recognise herself? She can't see to read through her eyelashes.

I really need to go and get dressed.

BumpingFuglies · 09/05/2012 10:27

Grin coco

I strongly disagree with this as well.

Ah well, each to their own. For the record, I didn't agree or disagree with OP. I just thought the thread was amusing.

Floggingmolly · 09/05/2012 10:38

Delete the thread for bullying? Hmm.

Doesn't there have to be an actual victim in a bullying situation? I don't think the school run mum in question would recognise herself from the op, particularly if this level of over dressing is as as par for the course as some people are making out. I've never seen it

BumpingFuglies · 09/05/2012 10:40

Good point Flogging.

There is a victim - this thread is a bout one particular person, not a generic question about dressing up for the school run.

The OP states that the mum has told her she gets up at 5am to get ready for the school run, and that she takes 8 hours to get ready for a night out.

I think the mum could recognise herself if she were to see this thread.
