Was that par for the course during the seventies? Or unreasonable?

Try the new Flora. It tastes just like Stork used to.

leftmysociallifeatthedoor · 07/05/2012 21:45

oh but I wasnt yet born in the seventies

LibrarianByDay · 07/05/2012 21:45

We had Co-op own-brand margerine IIRC.

Rank!

Olympia2012 · 07/05/2012 21:45

Was it 'blue band' sparkling?

Housewifefromheaven · 07/05/2012 21:45

squeaky that's it!! Yuck.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 07/05/2012 21:45

We had butter as my mam thought marg was common. I longed to be allowed Gold or Vitalite like my friends. Until I tried it and realised its disgusting.

WorraLiberty · 07/05/2012 21:46

My Dad mixes I Can't Believe It's Not Butter with Stork margerine

And now I don't know what to believe Sad

SuzySheepSmellsNice · 07/05/2012 21:46

We had StIvel Gold on our bread and UHT skimmed milk for my entire childhood, and I survived fairly well! :)

bibbitybobbitybunny · 07/05/2012 21:47

We had butter, but Sainsbury's green label margarine in a round tub for baking.
My mother was an early-adopter of supermarket own brands Grin.

LibrarianByDay · 07/05/2012 21:47

Oh God! We had Blue Band as well. I'd managed to erase that particular torture from my memory.

CoffeeAhorlicksAnonymous · 07/05/2012 21:47

Aw crap I'm a stork user not all the time

wasabipeanut · 07/05/2012 21:48

My university boyfriend used Gold margarine. Our relationship did not endure.

squeakytoy · 07/05/2012 21:48

we also had nimble bread for a while too until my dad threatened her with the toasting fork unless she bought some real bread! Grin

Sparklingbrook · 07/05/2012 21:49

Thanks Olympia yes it was!! I would have been trying to remember all night. Grin

Olympia2012 · 07/05/2012 21:50

Ah nimble!! And 'milk roll'

sensuallettuce · 07/05/2012 21:50

No lentilly - one Xmas my dad (grew up in WW2) made a "soup" out of everyone's leftovers this included half eaten food off one of my then babies high chair tray my sister and her family were offered a bowl on their arrival -I hurriedly took them to one side and suggested they may like to politely decline Hmm

margerykemp · 07/05/2012 21:52

We had blue band

squeakytoy · 07/05/2012 21:52

I dont mind milk roll, and still get it sometimes as it is perfect for small sandwiches.

TheSameButDifferent · 07/05/2012 21:52

We always had a tin of MARVEL milk powder in the cupboard. I used to eat it dry!

Marge wise, Stork. In later years I used to buy Vitalite. The tubs made excellent playdoh storage containers.

MsVestibule · 07/05/2012 21:52

Course it was the norm in the 70s! Still is in our house, but only when we've run out of Asda's Olive Oil Spread.

VivaLeBeaver · 07/05/2012 21:53

I quite liked st ivel gold. I use stork for baking.

New flora is shite. Ive changed to some low fat olive oil based spread.

axure · 07/05/2012 21:53

I'd forgotten about all these awful margarines from the 70s, Dad would use the Blueband tubs for his greenhouse cuttings. We always had a big plate of bread and marg on the table with every meal, even Sunday roast. I only eat Lurpack now.

WorraLiberty · 07/05/2012 21:53

I still remember the Nimble advert and how much it made me want to go up in a hot air balloon.

Hated the fucking bread mind....

DaisyMaisyJessicaEmily · 07/05/2012 21:54

it was own brand sunflower spread here, really really orangey yellow. I love stera milk though

Olympia2012 · 07/05/2012 21:54

Always had bread too. I sometimes put it out for the dc and it always gets eaten. I should do it more
