to not believe that playing computer games is the best cure for a bad headache?

Dh gets bad headaches and migraines, especially on days off after busy weeks, or after a lie-in. Apparently the following don't work for him:
Fresh air
Gentle exercise
Sitting reading a book or listening to music
Having a lie-down
A hot shower

Any suggestion of doing any of the above is met with a snap.

But computer games distract him at least. And no sitting rigidly in front of the screen doesn't make it worse or prolong it. Of course.

We're off in two hours for an overnight stay and a fun day out and he's sat in front of the computer with a bad headache.

Lol it reminds me of the amount of posters on internet forums who start threads saying they've got a migraine...then get snappy when anyone suggests they should get off the computer.

Does it always coincide with stuff he doesn't want to do, or is it a freak of nature that today's headache has come on at the same time as packing to go away Hmm

If he were ill, he'd be in bed.

TooManyBubbles · 07/05/2012 13:29

Hand him some painkillers?

Mia4 · 07/05/2012 13:29

I'm not convinced on it working for headaches although i know sometimes distractions do, personally i'd go with nurofen and orgasms. Migraines...sorry but i doubt he has one if he can play a computer game. My experience and seeing friends in the same positions is that anything, including lying in a dark room, is hell when you have a migraine.

YWNBU to disbelieve he has a migraine if he can play computer games, but that's my opinion. Headache, yes, migraine, no.

Drink fluids (not fizzy, caffeine or alcohol)?

I would also be questioning the timing/self medication going there!

madmouse · 07/05/2012 13:35

Yes he is dosed up on painkillers

The overnight bag is packed so nothing to avoid there - and he is looking forward to where we are going.

No this one is not a migraine. Migraines do end in bed with the curtains shut.

Um, when I was a teenager I found it distracted me from the pain as did watching TV.

Fresh air didn't.
Gentle exercise didn't.
Sitting reading a book or listening to music didn't.
Having a lie-down DID
A hot shower never occured to me

Having said that my Mum would never let me have painkillers.
