to be ridiculously excited about getting 3 hours to myself doing something I really want to do (rather than just being at home)

DD2 is 7 and a half months old and she is BF. DH often takes her out for an hour or 2 while I stay at home, but I have only been out of the house without her (excluding popping down the corner shop) four times since she was born - once to take DD1 to the library, to do the pre-holiday shop, to go to the wholesalers with DH and to go to do my OU exam.

My mom bought me a sewing machine for Christmas and I have only had chance to use it once. I'd love to have a good play with it, but there are two problems with this - one - if I get it out at home, I am constantly on edge that DD2 is going to need me at any minute (she doesn't sleep well and is quite high needs) plus I would need to do it when eldest DD was in bed, otherwise she wouldn't leave me alone and -two - I have absolutely no idea what I am doing when it comes to sewing.

A few weeks ago, I discovered a lovely little independent fabric shop and got chatting to the owner. She told me that she did sewing lessons, no more than two - one ratios and really reasonable prices. What's more they are on a Sunday. So I have booked a lesson for tomorrow and my sewing machine and I are off for three hours while DH looks after the girls.

AIBU to be ridiculously excited (think kid at Christmas) about it?

I used to get insanely excited about 'my' evening out once a week when DD was under one. I went to help my friend muck out her horses. It seriously was my special treat. What a nutter.

I go to an adults
Only session at the ceramic painting cafe. I LOVE it. Dd is only 10 weeks! I can't imagine how excited I would be after 7.5 months!!!

On holiday I lugged two bags of washing across a caravan park in the rain and sat in the laundrette on my Kindle for an hour and a half and it was like being at the Sanctuary (it even smelt nice in there!). DS is 8 months...

It sounds fabulous, hope you have a great time.

Funny sewing machine story.....
I bought myself a sewing machine a couple of years ago as the one I had owned for the previous 20 years had blown up. When I phoned the store to discuss which one to buy the bloke kept saying "D'you know me?" I got very confused until he explained that he was referring to the make Janome which was what he recommended for me. Blush

I did one a couple of weeks ago. I was all excited for the whole week running up to it. I had a wonderful day, pure "me time" and when I got home I got a phone call advising me I had won a dinner for two and £50 wine voucher for our local posh restaurant

I may have to do another workshop !
