To do a sewing repair with thread of a totally different colour

I'm such a crap mum, I need to do a sewing repair but I don't have any blue thread, only red for some reason. Do I Do it and hope my sewing is good enough that it doesn't show or do I have to brave the storm raging and find some?

Depends how obvious the hole is and if it's on something naice or regular.

I wouldn't go out in this for thread, though, just procrastinate!

It's a school skirt for one of my DD's; she's torn the split at the back and I need to sew it up before tomorrow :(

Ask a neighbour, and then replace later?

Colour it with felt tip pen or similar or even dip it in ink.

My mother is quite frugal. She once put an ink cartridge in a tin of paint and then painted a chest of drawers....she has one GIANT cotton reel, grey.

Well it's the 3rd time she's torn it and I doubt it'll be the last so anything will do!

What about that iron on stuff called Wonderweb? You only need an iron!

Won't staples just tear through the material?

Second the felt pen idea, but black marker is best as felt pen will fade in the wash.

I once overlocked a black garment with white overlocking (it was a toile don't worry) because i hate changing overlocker machines.

So no, i agree with savoy colour it in with a marker!

Oh, & if you sew it up properly, you shouldn't really be able to see the stitching that much?...
